Leave the mods be: Part Deux

What has been the hot topic on this site for the last couple of weeks?

The moderating staff.

The guys and dolls whose job is to enforce the TOS, browse galleries and to pick out shiny art to be featured.

The reason I am writing this is the reaction to the banning of myself, AQ, Insane Kenny and Leondrabeth.
Now when I found out I was banned, I was ticked off. Extremely ticked off. All I saw was Dante staring back at me with "You have been banned =(" written underneath. I did not know why I was banned. No warning. No e-mail. No nothing. Luckily I'm friends with a couple of mods and after asking them it turns out the reason for the bannings was due to certain comments made on a users journal.

Now I dunno why these comments were deemed offensive, but they were. AQ and Kenny ACTUALLY wanted to know "why"? We did plan saying the comment at the exact same time, cause we're silly :3
BUT this was deemed spam by the user and we were reported and subsequently banned.

Now I've been banned before. That was for a stupid reason (being sarcastic to someone) and it was eventually fixed by Renner (who was a mod at the time) in a few hours. Do I believe this ban was just as stupid?

Yes. Yes I do.

If the person took offense, I think a warning never to bring it up again would have been sufficient. And fun fact; I have never harassed this user before anytime before.

I have to thank Mar, Ashenge and others for fixing this anyways. Especially with the glitch in the ban system. Ashenge told me the scoop and Mar apoligised on behalf of the staff so forgiveness for all.

Now the reaction to this kinda disturbed me. "KILL ALL THE MODS" and all that crap. Lemme just tell you how these things work;

It only takes ONE mod to ban. There are 38 moderating staff at this moment and they do not deserve the blame for one persons actions.

Now alot of crap has been going on recently which I don't agree with. But what I absolutely hate is the way certain people are calling mods "nazis" when they actually DESERVED it. I've seen journals from people complaining how unfair the mods are when they get banned for actually flaming peoples pages and constantly harassing them, telling them they hope they die and whatnot. Newsflash; that actually IS a reason to be punished. One thing is don't get are the ones who get all hissy when submissions ,that weren't even created by them, get deleted from their galleries. Unless it's your desktop, i dunno why people would even want to submit pics they didn't create into their main gallery.

That's not to say all the mods are goodness and light. They are all different people from different cultures with different upbringings. Of course some are going to react the way they do to certain situations. But then again, that's what I love about the site, the diversity between users.

Also as a suggestion ,I think in the future banned people should be sent e-mails saying exactly why they're banned. The ip ban doesn't allow users to even see Sheezy so I think it could clear up things if people were actually told why they're banned. An appeal system would be spiffy too. I think it would stop alot of the drama involving bans. They have one on 4chan for crying out loud.

So yeah, I hope that covers it.
