Everyone's favourite gay Victorian, arguably the funniest and definitely the coolest thing to come out of Ireland since Brú na Bóinne and the Táin, aesthetic posterboy, botanophile, my patron saint and, dare I say it, my homeboy; the one and only Mr Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde (and you thought your middle names were bizarre...).
How rediculous of you to suppose that anyone, least of all my dear mother, would christen me "plain Oscar"... I started as Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde. All but two of the five names have already been thrown overboard. Soon I shall discard another and be known simply as "The Wilde" or "The Oscar".
His ma was a right nutjob, I hear. Wrote poetry that inadvertantly got Irish revolutionary journalists thrown in jail and wore scarlet dresses well into her sixties.
