This is Naruto fanart, but not exactly canon. It's based on roleplay on Damn Ninja Mux on which I play Kiba and Nightambre plays Ino. They're dating now and started about a month before the Chuunin exams began. This, they've learned, makes things a little complicated, because now they find they're up against one another in competition. Ino made Kiba promise that he wouldn't go easy on her just because they're an item. Reluctantly, Kiba agreed.
Ino made that relationship a whole lot easier to ignore by striking Akamaru with a poisoned blade, though.
This is based on the log of the fight. Two pages in one here and I plan on doing more. I don't think I ever plan on fully finishing it as in inking, lettering and all. It's mostly the action and interaction of it all that I'm interested in illustrating. Anyway, I thought I'd share it.

That would be a fantastic match to watch...Kiba won in the end, yes? I don't say this because I favor one over the other, both characters are pretty cool, but facts are that Kiba is just stronger than Ino...

The movement in both of these is incredible. Poor lil' Akamaru *sniffles* I hope he's not too hurt (has a soft spot for Akamaru and his cute Lassie-barking). The backstory is really interesting as well, especially since the series has such obvious setups for the exam... I mean, what if Shikamaru had fought Chouji, or Naruto against Sakura?
