Okay, I promised I would show my process for my flat tone colouring method, so here it is, complete with captions for each stage. If this is something you try out, send me a link to your work so I can have a look!
I might consider doing a process for my more "painterly" or gradated pieces, but that is more complex and will probably only help people who use Corel Painter.

Wow, that's a pretty practical way of approaching it! Takes the guesswork out of picking darker shadow colors and such. I likes! ^.^

How do you make the smooth outlines exactly? DX I've been trying to find a good way to do some nice outlines... and I cant seem to find the right brush to do it with in photoshop.. ): they're always too soft.
I never thought of putting down the shadows before the base colors though O.o lol.
Anyways, this is very awesome.

Wow, that's extremely helpful. I have Coral, tried it one night, but I don't like new things.. I didn't know you used both O_O cool
'cuz I have both
I think I will try your coloring style just for fun, and of course link you and credit you and such, but it just seems like fun to try out. I agree about blending the shine on skin, I rarely make shine for skin.. HATE how they do it on Dragonball GT, so gross looking. Looks like they just rubbed themselves in too much moisturizer. D:
Ooh, wow.
I've just started venturing into the realm of digital coloring...and this is extremely helpful. Thanks for posting this! =D
