general appearances and information
=============================

bipedal homanoid

age span: 120-125 cycles (605-625 years)

most are lithe. born with heightened senses (up to 10x greater than a human). they can communicate with living things. (i.e. plants and such) so they don't decimate their planet like humans do.

skin color variations are due to the natural rescources that are located in the area in which they inhabit. (i.e. primarily desert-tan, sand-colored skin; rocky, mountainous areas-greys and browns; etc.)

no 'unnatural' hair colors. hair colors are based on time of year (season) (those born in the winter have muted colors *think faded* and white; spring denotes pastels and soft shades; summer consists of vibrant, rich colors; autumn gives fiery brilliance and lush earth tones).

height is measured in 'lengths'. 1 length=2 feet. (2.5.4 lengths=5'7")

weight measured in 'grains'. 1 grain=5 lbs.

no 'unnatural' eye colors. pupils are slits, like snakes.

tattoos and any other bodily markings are due to rites of passage and specific 'clans'.

ear development depends on region of birth, as well. (i.e. aquatic-fins, desert-taller *think jackrabbit*, mountain-pointed with a bit of height *think elf to wolfish*, forest-pointed with a bit of height, or even moved more to the top of the head *think wolfish*, higher mountain regions/sky-simple earholes with protective skin flap covering *think birds*)

feet are more 'gargoyle' styled, walking on the tips of their toes rather than the balls and heels of their feet, causing the knees to jut out in front (not predominantly like a gargoyle). tails are used as balance or anchors. starting at ankle, hair, or fur sprouts in the color of the individual's hair (think Clydesdale horse feet).

tails vary from individual to individual. females tend to have thinner, more 'petite' tails with large decorative tufts, where males are larger and used as much as a weapon as to balance. the larger and farther up the tail the tuft extends (male trait only), the older the individual.
-partially prehensile. used to grip things such as branches, for balance and stability. And can carry their own wait but not forever.

Their spine is more flexible than an ordinary human being.

they have 3 moons. 2 at night, one during the day with double suns.
one sun is white, the other is red.
the two 'night' moons are pale yellow and green, while the 'day' moon is pink.
the green 'night' moon can harbor life as well, but the other two are dead.

technilogically, Reywyn are equal to humans, however the knowledge is put to better use due to their relationship with their planet

the ruling of the planet is dual. not patriarcal or matriarcal. there's one main set of 'rulers' that changes every 10 cycles of the suns. they are referred to as 'Kings'.

under those main rulers are smaller, lesser rulers, like barons, but they're called Princes of 'where ever they rule'. (i.e. Princes of the Air *upper mountainous areas*, Princes of the Sea, Princes of the Mountains, etc.) they are replaced with new Princes every 5 cycles.

both male and female are refered to as princes.

sexual maturity is reached at a very young age (4 cycles)
a version of menapause is reached for male and female at 90 cycles (450 years)

once they take on the courting portion of a relationship, they have to give up everything. they don't eat or sleep until the other party gives them their decision.

the courting can last up to 1 full cycle.

a lot of people die during courting.

not just men that do the courting, it can go either way.

when they give everything up, they give it as a gift to the other person's family. if they have no family ties, the 'gift' is returned to the woo-er's family, or to the one being courted, though this is rare.

taking a mate is for life (monogomous).

one couple can have up to three offspring at one time. though very rare, it has been documented that four or five have occured. at least one child in every 'parcel' is female.

the 'rite of passage' can occur anywhere between 2 and 6 cycles. if the rite of passage is not completed, the individual is considered 'barren' and not fit for anything but hard labor.

people who are not 'of rites age' have short hair. even the girls. once they pass their rites of passage, they have the choice to grow it long. it's something that's in the blood. they inherently know when it's time.

when a Reywyn has come of age, a gem will form. males are on their foreheads. it can be a single large cabachon, or a series of smaller ones. it all depends on the individual. females appear along the collarbone ridge-predominantly a large gem forms in the hollow of the collarbone.
these gems match the eye color of the individual.

Unseeables- lowest class: they keep everything clean and running smoothly. they work when no one can see them (primarily at night). this is the class made of 'barren's, those who didn't pass their rites of passage. this class is not looked down upon, but are treated well, due to the important work they do. being the lowest class, all they are permitted to wear are gloves and shoes. members of the higher classes leave gifts of new shoes or food for them outside the doorsteps on certain nights of the year, as offerings of thanks for the work they perform. Living arrangements are communal; each town/city has a large dwelling set up specifically for them.

Breeders- class above Unseeables. this class makes up the majority of the hunters/gatherers for food in the communities. they are allowed shoes, gloves, minimal clothing (i.e. loinclothes) and jewelry (think traditional African garb). both men and women hunt and farm. the majority of most communities are made up of Breeders.

Caterers- above Breeder. this class are the merchants and such. they import goods from other regions or planets to make a profit by selling to all the other classes. very few, if any, transactions take place without a Caterer involved. this class is allowed robes, along with all the articles of the two previous classes.

Bringers- above Caterers. these are the artisans, historians and teachers. if someone wants information about a topic, they come to the Bringers. if the Bringers don't know, there is no information on that particular subject. once one becomes a full fledged Bringer, the telepathic bond between that individual and the rest of the Bringer community strengthens, allowing one person to draw any information needed from any other Bringer's mind. members of this class are able to wear any of the garb granted the lower classes, with addition of hair decorations and head gear (i.e. crowns, tiaras, circlets, caps, hoods, etc.)

Untouchables- highest class. the members of this class simply govern the community. the lawmakers and those who carry them out are members of this class. Untouchables wear various outfits, depending on their rank and position in the class.

economy and various other info:

on-world trade is primarily barter-system. anything can be bartered, right down to children.

off-world trade is done with credits or other various forms of currency.

transportation is primarily done with hover crafts. this ranges from single-person to multi-person transit.

buildings are primarily made of natural materials. when possible, the actual living material is used (i.e. hollowed-out trees, caves, etc.)

space ports are made of rock and some natural metal. though technology allows them to have better materials to build with, keeping their planet alive and healthy takes presidence over comfort from technology. although the space ports are made of such base materials, they are surprisingly up-to-date and easily accessable. these ports are only located in the larger, more populated communities in each region.

religion is nature-based with multiple dieties. there are no 'churches' or buildings of worship as they believe nature IS the building and keeping it alive IS the worship. each individual has an innate sense to help things live and thrive. to a point, each member of the race has the capability to help nature grow and heal itself, or others.

native language is a mixture of sounds and body gestures. a primary piece of this body language is the tail. based on the human's 26 letter alphabet, containing 5 vowels, a lot of words can be mistaken for different words, thus creating a lot of initial mis-communication with new species.

'holidays' are observed on the equinoxes and the solstices. eclypses are also seen as something to be celebrated.

crime is almost unheard of by the Reywyn people, themselves. however, due to the contact with other species, 'prisons' and 'holding cells' have been put in place to contain the lesser appreciated members of society.

like any other race, when dealing with 'teenagers', a wide range of actions are taken by the 'rebel' member of society. anything from getting extra markings to 'bobbing' their tails has been done. however, the bobbing of one's tail must be done off-world because it is seen as detrimental to the individual and their society.

anatomy

females don't start to 'sexually mature' until after their first mating. before then, they're all flat-chested and curveless.

the aerolas on both men and women are the color of their hair, not a darker shade of their skin tone

both men and women have a 'pouch' that contains their sex organs. the male's pouch has a 'top' opening, the woman's a 'bottom' opening. in essence, an embrace is all that's needed to allow for procreation.

when a male is not arroused, they're as formless as a ken doll in the lower regions. their 'plumbing' is connected, only needing a single exit for excreation of bodily waste. women also have the single exit for waste. the sex organs are seperate from the digestive organs, unlike humans.

when a male is arroused, his penis will protrude from the 'pouch' on his lower abdomen. the sex organ is shaped like a pole or stick with three 'bulb's on it. one at the tip (the head), one in the middle of the shaft, and one at the base. the extra two bulbs are in fact the male's testicals.

when a eunich is created in the Reywyn society, it is not merely the testicals that are removed, as with humans, but the entire penis.

blood color is metalic silver. blood types include M, N, and O. M is almost the equivilant of human's A; N to B. O is exactly the same, so where as they have technically a different make-up from humans, they CAN transfuse for O patients. however, it has yet to be done due to the unforseen results of mixing 'alien' DNA strands.
