Rise of the Spiritualist: Entry Four
Rise of the Spiritualist: The Personal Accounts from the Events of Shiro-Ryu High School from the Memories of Leonardo Yarafen Krilangi
Fourth Entry.
When I regained consciousness, I immediately noticed that I was still alive. I could tell I was still among the living from the pain surging through my legs as I tried to stand. The next thing I noticed was that two of the other elementalists, including Raiden, were tending to the others who had all apparently been injured as they had tried to fight Chris. The only people not present were Ryden and Momo. I assumed Ryden was doing battle with Chris, but I wasn't sure about Momo. If she was still outside, she would get caught up in the fray, and I didn't want that. Bent on finding her and bringing her back, I slowly stood up and walked to a nearby doorway. I immediately recognized the surrounding area outside; I was definitely back at Shiro-Ryu's main campus.
As I walked outside, I saw four figures closing their distance to the complex: the dark figures of Ryden and Chris, locked in an aerial battle, and two others, running after them. I assumed one of them was Momo and took off running in an attempt to lead her to safety. As we neared the courtyard, though, Ryden and Chris came down to the ground and slammed into it with the force of a comet. The shock wave threw me off-balance, and I fell to the ground.
A column of smoke rose into the air from the impact zone and enshrouded the visage of the survivor. I didn't need to wait long; after a few seconds, Chris emerged from the crater. At that moment, a wave of pure terror surged through me; if Ryden wasn't powerful enough to destroy him, then all hope was lost. A dark pulse shot out from Chris' body, and suddenly hundreds of thousands of creatures, various in species, shape and size, sprung from the ground. What caught my attention, though, was that Momo's eyes were fixed on the blood-soaked corpse of Ryden.
"Momo, get back," I yelled to her. "We must get to safety! We can return for Ryden later!"
Deaf to my cries, she entered the smoldering impact zone and knelt next to her fallen ally's body. As crimson-hued energy built up around her, I guessed what she was planning to do and frantically blasted my way through Chris' hordes to get to her. As hard as I tried, however, more rose as I slew them, and I made little if any progress.
"Wait," I called in a futile last-ditch effort to halt her. "Momo, STOP!!"
I was too late; a blood-red ray of energy shot into the sky, painting the heavens with bloody power. The light consumed everything, vaporizing the monsters and blinding me. When my vision returned, Ryden was standing at the rim of the crater, holding Momo's lifeless body in his hands. She had given her own life to offer him another chance.
As Ryden picked up his battle once more, all of the healed Elementalists, myself included, faced off against more monsters of Chris' design. After a moment, we launched ourselves at our enemies, shouting death cries and pulverizing anything that remotely resembled a monster. I personally went into a frenzy in that battle, firing off elemental chakra left and right, barely discriminating between ally and enemy.
At that point, I became lost in the blood and adrenaline...
...I vaguely remember seeing Ryden, clad in
blazing white armor, doing battle with Chris, dressed in equally impressive black mail.
...I can partly recall seeing him run Chris through with his blade.
...I remember watching as Raiden disappeared with Ryden, calling him "Red Ace" for some odd reason.
...The last thing I can recall is realizing that Raiden was a divine being sent to keep Forte in check.
If you want details of the fight, you should ask Ryden's friend Sam; he saw everything and is the most likely person to tell you how things really happened. As for me, I'm going to take a break from writing for a while. I'll need to focus on my studies as a senior at Shiro-Ryu, now that things are finally back to normal. Once I graduate, I'll probably pick this up again.
