Here's a self-portrait we had to do for Drawing II. We had to take a fictional character or an existing person and draw ourselves as them.
I picked John Lennon. I was told to try to show our differences in the background of the piece. So on the left side (I made this Lennon's side) I put transfers of the Beatles heads and Yoko Ono as well as some of his lyrics from his solo career. Then I put charcoal over it and used the eraser to make it look like the British flag.
On the right side (my side) I put transferred photos of my family and Spanio, then I did the same thing with the charcoal but instead I made an American flag. On that side I put my favorite Beatles lyrics which happened to be written by Lennon. =O
Yay.

Yes we had to use a reference pic. Meh.
Ah well.

EDIT: I hope nobody thinks the title is an attack at John Lennon. He might've been abit arrogant, but I LOVE Lennon. He was my favorite Beatle.

I like this one very much, it has this really classy 60's-era feel to it. I like the look of this with the British and American flags in the background and the various prints of the faces, the way it was lain out it has this real cool 60s era nostalgic feel to it like it's straight off the cover of a Beatles record. A real classy tribute to a great artist =D
