Chapter: 12 Building Bridges

Finally when I woke up, I realized I fell asleep. I had a look around and noticed there was light in the kitchen, pouring in from the window. I blinked and went to move my arm but, it was numb. My eyes followed it to the source and I saw another hand holding mine.

Suddenly, I remembered what happened. Flash backs streamed back into my mind and tears filled my eyes. I picked my self up after my arm got their feeling back and looked to my angel. He was still sleeping. I'm glad I beat him to waking up.

I slowly go to the kitchen to put on some coffee and wipe my face off. It had that grimy feel of just crying for hours. I heard a buzzing noise and quickly lunged for my cellphone. I opened it and read the text message.

Is Jacey at your house?

I blinked and looked at the recipient, it was Olette. I tilted my head and texted her back.

Yea...

I waited a few more minutes and got another reply.

Thank goodness...I just happened to stumble by him, he kept saying his father was going to kill him... and I watched him wander to your house. Are you okay?

I gasped after reading the message and looked back to Jacey. He was laying there so peacefully. Light began to fill the living room up through the kitchen. I looked at the time...

7:00am

I quickly replied to Olette and smiled at the comforting scent of coffee filled his apartment. I decided to walk over to Jacey and by the time I got there his eyes fluttered open. They seemed vacant and tired.

When he came to he sat straight up and held his arms out like a baby quietly asking for a pick up. I sat on the edge of the couch and gently hugged him, nuzzling into his neck, " Hey... You okay?" I whispered softly.

"Yea, I'm okay now..." I could hear a smile in his voice as he pulled away to look at me. " Is that coffee?" he tilted his head while sniffing the air.

"Mmhmm, you want some?" I asked. We still didn't let go of each other for a moment. It seemed liked something may happened if we let go. Like the merry-go-round we are on would suddenly fling us off if we lost contact.

He nodded and his grip was the first to go. Reluctantly I followed and sneaked a quick kiss on his cheek. This made him smile and as a reaction, made me smile and blush.

I could hear the boiling of the coffee when the buzzing of my phone went off as well. "What the..." I asked very softly while picking up the phone and flipping it open. There was a voice mail message. I paused and put the phone to my ear after pressing the necessary buttons. There was a sharp voice so I jerked it away from my ear and quickly turned down the volume. I then put it back to my ear and listened.

Hello Caleb. I hope you don't mind me just taking this number and calling you. Well any way, this is Jacey's mother. Would you mind holding on to Jacey for a while. I know you two are really close friends and it would be good for him to stay away from his father. Thank you Caleb, I'll bring some stuff by later hon.

I blinked and looked over to Jacey and grinned like mad, "Hey guess what.." I paused as I turned my phone off and looked to him across the room.

He just shrugged and replied, "What?" and tilted his head all cute like. He turned to face me and wrapped himself in the blanket he was in.

" Youuu~" I paused and giggled, " You get to stay with me for a few days~ Your mom is going to bring some stuff by laters." with that I poured two cups of coffee and brought them to the coffee table, "Will you let me in?" I tilted my head as he got a hold of the cup. I sat on the edge of the couch and gave him puppy dog eyes.

He nodded and sat the coffee down, unraveled the blanket a little and hugged me close to him. I sunk down a little so he could drink his coffee, " Yay!" I said in response to him understanding what I wanted. I wiggled and slowly sipped my hot coffee loving the warm liquid that ran down my throat. We didn't speak for a long time.

"Sorry for... last night." I finally heard from behind me. He then rested his chin on my head and sat the coffee on one of his knees. " I ... I didn't mean to show up like a mess...." he felt shameful, it was very apparent through the tone of his voice.

I chuckled and shook my head, "Please, don't be. I bet it wasn't even under your control...how could you not show up like that?" I tilted my head and laid back into him. I then put my empty mug on the table and grabbed his, doing the same thing.

He smiled and moved some, taking me and putting me on his stomach so he could stroke my hair and talk to me even more comfortably. Of course I had no objections, this was perfect!
"Well, I suppose you're right but, now I'm being dumped on you... it's not right...." he sighed though I think he didn't really mind that he was staying here.

" You're semi-right...." I then wiggled a little and looked up to him, my chin to his chest, " but it doesn't matter....." I paused and laid my ear to his chest, listening to his heartbeat and his breathing. " You ready to tell me what happened?" I asked softly.

"I'll tell you later... I do not want to think about it fully right now..." he nodded and kissed the top of my head.

I nodded and replied, " Kay." I snuggled up on his chest and slowly started to drift off into a sleep. When I woke up, Jacey and another were talking. I slowly shifted and looked towards the door. It was Jacey's mom. Slowly I wiped my face off and smiled, " Hello..." I said and blushed as I walked towards the door.

His mother smiled and there was a small pile on the floor next to the door. She continued, " Oh thank you Caleb... I'll be back in a few days to check up on you two....If you need anything call me..." she smiled and gave Jacey his cell phone and a big hug. " See you two later..." she smiled slightly and walked to her car. We both waved to her until she up and drove away.

" How long was I asleep for?" I felt rather embarrassed when he told me a couple of hours. I shook my head and went to pick up his stuff, " You can sleep in my bed." I said as I lead him to my room.

He chuckled and added, "Only if you're in it with me..." he gave me his Cheshire smile and followed me to my room.

Once we were fully inside and I put his suit cases under the bed, I hopped on and he followed. My hand found his and gently caressed the side of his hand as I stared at the door with a blank mind.

" You know.. I've been thinking... Maybe... We should not wait for the play... it's still three weeks away...we've been dating for at least three and a half....sooo..." he looked towards me with a shy smile on his face instead of his normal know-it-all.

I gulped a bit and scratched my cheek with my index finger, "Soo what Jacey?" I asked with a smile and leaned my head towards his just to be funny. Before anyone could say another word our worlds collided and our lips touched for the first time.

I had never felt such a sensation in my body, my stomach was queasy and my heart was fluttering. Yet all I could focus on was his and mine lips....actually kissing. It was like we were sealing a deal....and our fates.
