Rage

Rage

As I swim in a stormy sea
a shark fin glides next to me
Above my head thunder roars
I struggle on, my muscles soar

The shark closes in
but does not bite
The sky above me
black as night

Tired, I begin to feel
The shark comes in for the kill
I close my eyes and wait
wondering if this is Fate

The water is icy
and I feel numb
But Death's blow,
never comes

I am swimming in a stormy sea
Foaming waves are pushing me
The sky is still as black as night
but the shark is not in sight

And, it is then, that I realize
that the shark is ME,
me inside
and I know then
Deep in my soul
that I can reach a higher goal

Or destroy myself.
