I haven't got a name for him yet~
This was created from me just...drawing. I didn't worry about any technicalities like I normally would, and I think it's helped me out of my art block a little. I haven't done any stress
relieving drawing for a very long time.
This was hugely inspired by Felix's [
Atomicfiction] work. The lineart was done in the way he did when we were Oc'ing, and I learnt heaps from it so I decided I'd try and apply that knowledge. I was also influenced by the way he draws muzzles, folds in the skin and the almost abstract design.
I haven't drawn any underwater scenes so I'm new to it. About halfway through colouring this it started to scare the crap out of me because all I could think of was a whale. *shudders*
Critique is encouraged. I want to improve. On that note, I want to thank my master Damian for helping me heaps with the background. He explained how it worked since I have no idea about water laws. Honestly.
Opencanvas lines photoshop colouring. Nine to ten hours.
Thanks!
EDIT:
Forgot to mention! Goonie said that it reminded him of a frilled shark, so he sent me a link to the video and afterwards I edited the gills on my creature to kind of look like one. Here's the video: http://www.spikedhumor.com/articles/80272/Frilled_Shark.html
It's short, fascinating and definitely worth a look. A very cool looking creature.
Here's the lineart
