Black Box
Black Box
Down at a docking bay in Vancouver British Columbia, a freighter had made its long journey back from the Caribbeans.
The large ship slowed down as it enter the bay, carefully placing itself in it's docking area.
Two man cam running out from a small shack just a few meters away from the docks.
They were wearing sailor uniforms, and were carrying bundles of rope in their arms.
It was night time at the moment, the only thing that threw light on the area were the several street lights that stood on the side walks of the bay.
The light casted shadows of the man as they ran by, approaching the wooden platform beside the freighter ship.
They tossed one end of the rope up to the ship, were a crew member waited above.
He grabbed a hold of the rope and tied it down, as did the workers below, tying it to metal pegs on the dock.
As it was fastened down, the captain of the ship walked towards the edge of the ship and looked down at the workers with aged eyes.
The captain was in his sixties, his hair grey, wrinkles forming on his face and body. He wore a captains hat and smoked a tobacco pipe. He stood five foot eight, and wore white clothes with black buttons going down the shirt.
"Hook the ramp up to the side of the ship boys!" as he talked in his gruff voice, smoke seeped from his mouth.
The men below got the ramp ready with speed. "Ramp attached Captain!"
Their voices echoed throughout the frigid air above.
The Captain took a puff of his pipe, and nodded politely "Time to get this cargo off this girl boys!"
One of the man below darted towards a work crane infront of the ship, and entered its chamber.
The othe worker climbed up the ramp and placed himself on the deck just infront of the crane as it turned on.
The arm swung towards a crate, the only crate on this Freighter, and eased it towards the ground below.
The Captain walked off his ship with his crew and the man that was onboard with him.
His conversations were about the cargo they picked up on the Islands just off the Caribbean sea.
"Me and Louie took a visit to my good old freind Jarred. He said he had been holding something very rare for us, a box he described it as."
The worker that was operating the crane, opened the door, and approached the Captain "Crate grounded Captain!"
"Good" He directed his attention to a crew member who walked beside him. This crew member was holding a crow bar in his hand. "Open up the crate Steve."
Steve hurried towards the crate, his shadow being casted across the ground by the light.
He plunged the crow bar into the top of the crate, and placed force down on the blue metal.
A loud crack emmited from the box, splinters of wood protruding from the top.
He got the lid opened and tossed it to the side, causing it to shatter into several fragments of wood.
"Take the box out Steve!" he hollared, puffing away at his tobacco.
Steve placed his hands inside slowly, and lifted the box that was surounded by styrofoam.
This box was a blacked glass case with a steel dragon single diamond encrested symbol ontop.
He headed towards his Captain, but than something happened that was unexpected.
Black smoke started to seep from the slits of the box, engulfing the crew member in a blanket of smog.
"What the fuck is that!" screamed a crew member as he saw his mate being swallowed by this smoke that seemed to appear without notice.
A loud scream emitted from the blanket of black, and than there was a noise; it sounded like Steve's bones were being grinded into powder, the cracking noises filled the air.
"Steve!" A crew member darted towards the smog, about to save his buddy when something emerged from the smoke that caused him to freeze in fear.
Infront of the crew member was a enourmous beast that stood ten feet, skin black and scalely. It's teeth were serated, and had remenants of dangling flesh. They were also stained with the scarlet blood, this dripped off its pearl fangs. The eyes were blood red, and its nose were just mere slits. Curved spikes protruded from its head all the way down the its two foot long tail.
It reeked of sewage and burning corpses. A black auro came off it as it spotted the man that suddenly stopped in his tracks.
The beast threw aside a dismembered arm it was holding, and opened its eight inch claws and with great speed, it tore open his rib cage with such force that the member was thrown of balance and sent flying into the Captain knocking him over.
His body went limp, but he lifted his head and looked at the captain with hazey eyes and opened his blood filled mouth.
Gurgling sounds came from his throat as he tried to speek, spewing up blood with every forced voice.
The Captain backed up in shock to what just lay infront of him. The body of the crew member fell flat, and his head fell to the side, eyes rolled back in his head and blood began to pour onto the cement at his side.
"My god!" The beast was sprinting towards them with arms and claws outstretched. It trampled over the corpse and leaped into the air.
The thing was now only a black silhouette in the moons glow. But it dropped down towards the Captain, jaws open, claws closing in on his head.
It grabbed a hold of the Captains head, and with one fierce jerk it ripped his head off and cracked his skull on the hard cement.
It began to devour his brains, swallowing huge chunks of membrane, leaving pieces hang from its mouth.
The stunned workers turned around and headed towards the water, but the beast noticed the change of feel in the air, and lifted its head up just to see frantic runners.
It let out a screech that of a serpent and with a flash it began to disembowel there bodys with fierce slashes, causing blood to paint the ground below.
As it would do this, it would take a moment to devour an arm or leg of its victim. This was done with a loud grinding of the bones, and blood splatter as it was punctured.
A crew member by the name of Harold was the only one left standing, he stood at the edge of the dock, ready to jump when he felt a shock go down his spine.
Claws emerged from his stomach, his blood pouring out into the water below. He tunred his head sligtly just to see the beast behind him with the black auro.
He shrieked at the sight of the thing, and his head was ripped off leaving all quiet down at the docks.
As morning approached, two friends were exploring when they found the box. They picked it up with great interest and headed down towards main street, into the heart of the city they went with the box.
Black Box Chapter Two: Sean and Mark
The boy examined the box with astonishment, wondering what kind of secrets this concealed box held inside.
This boy was eighteen, five foot eleven, medium length, greasy black hair. His eyes an icy blue, skin a pasty white which made him really stand out because he was wearing an opened dark blue jean jacket with a black t-shirt inside. His blue jeans were tattered from the knees down.
The other boy was he same age, but he was taller, standing at an incredible six foot one. His hair reached the middle of his neck, the colour was a dirty blonde. His face was some what tanned, not brown, but some what tanned. His eyes were hazel, and he wore an eight karat gold earring on his left ear. The clothing he wore was a black leather hide jacket that was closed; this met his in tack blue jeans at the waist.
lol
The boy who was holding the box in his gripped hands looked up at the pale blue sky and a faint smile formed on his face "Sean you know what?"
Sean was looking down at the ground at the moment, but his attention was directed by his friends soft voice and replied "What is it Mark?"
Marks smile grew wider as Sean replied to his question, and Sean knowing Mark, he'd probably say something stupid like "You could stash a lot of things in this box" or even "Hey it's made of glass!" But he said something unexpected, which was "You know the girl you have a major crush on?"
This perked up his attention, eyes wide opened, and face going red as he thought of her than nodded slightly so he wouldn't have to say "Yes"
"What is her name, what is it again? It's there, on the tip of my tongue." He began to snap his fingers trying to pick up his memories pace on finding the file where her name was stored, than he shouted with glee "Kathryn that's it!"
Sean looked at his friend and smiled "Took you long enough Mark. Seeing as how I talk about her too much in your standards. What about her?"
This Sean knew would cause Mark to go into a dance, as he usually would, being a very jolly boy.
"You know this thing, this box?" He nodded in reply and smiled politely as though to hold back a laugh.
Marks eyes shifted back and forth, as though he were an observer examining the ocean, than these wandering eyes made there ways to Seans "This box could be the answer to your problems my dear friend!"
He raised a brow in embarrassment to what Mark had just said to him "And how would this box do that oh great Sage?" This was said with most sarcasm in his tone of voice.
This put Mark into a series of spins and twirls with outstretched arms; he began chanting "Oh this box that I hold will get Kathryn's heart on you! This box will get her heart on you! Black this box is, so smooth on the surface, its looks will get her heart for you!" "Shut the fuck up Mark, you don't know a word that is coming out of your fucking pie hole!"
Sean shoved him with an outstretched arm as he passed, causing Mark to loose his balance and fall to the ground.
The box slipped from his hands, it was now airborne, spinning on an angle in thin air.
Marks eyes opened wide with shock, his mouth a gap in horror knowing that his precious box would surely break on impact and immediately shouted "Sean the box! Grab it before it hits the cement!"
Sean pivoted around just to see his friend hit the ground, and above him the box twirling like a brick being hurled upward into the air.
He made a bee line towards the falling box, it was now just feet from the ground, he made haste and leaped out, arms outstretched, palms wide opened.
He grabbed the box, firmly gripping it in clasped hands and brought it in close to his chest as he tucked and rolled across the cement.
He stayed in his curled up position for a second, just to make sure the box wasn't harmed at all, than made his way up onto his feet.
Mark had his hands planted by his sides, back facing the ground, and his face with the expression of wonderment to how Sean reacted so quickly to this situation. "How did you do that!?"
This was in fact, hard for Sean to explain; for this was the first time he has ever experienced this feeling of speed in life.
He was at least fifteen meters in front of Mark when he was notified about the box being air born. Wouldn't the box have hit the ground by the time he would even reach it? His mind told him yes, but his actions proved wrong.
He didn't know how to explain it Mark. He put out his hand, offering to help Mark up onto his feet.
Mark accepted offered the hand and was pulled to his feet and dusted off.
His expression changed from joking around to be serious. You know that was uncalled for. I could have been really hurt, and not to mention the box shattered
Sean tossed the box over to Mark with out giving him a response; he only turned and continued to walk.
He stopped in his footsteps knowing that Mark didn't even move an inch "Well are you coming or what? We have to be at Kathryns for four o-clock and no later."
Mark began to smile again as Sean said "We have to be at Kathryns for four o-clock and no later" "What you don't want to miss your precious date!?" He approached Sean and clasped his hand on his shoulder, and brought his face towards his. His eyes met his cheek and he whispered softly into his ear "Sean and Kathryn are sitting in a tree, K.I.S.S.I.N.G" than he lifted his hand and began to run a head with twirling motions chanting "Sean and Kathryn are sitting in a tree, K.I.S.S.I.N.G! First comes love, than comes marriage, than comes their baby in a baby carriage!"
This made Sean lower his head in embarrassment to how his buddy was acting with him, so immature. He knew what his actions would be; he'd tell him off and continue on as though nothing happened. Yes he would do this cause it was first nature to him. "Mark shut your fucking mouth!"
Mark laughed even though Sean had just told him to shut up; it was as though he didn't take notice to it. "Jeez sometimes I swear it Mark!" Sean chased him down the walkway and towards the city was they were to be at Kathryns house for four.
As they approached the stair case of her house, Sean stretched his arm out to check his watch to see if they were on time or early. The time read four o'five, shoot he thought, how could he be late? Well of course it was Marks foolish sing and dance that held them up.
"Its five past four man, we are so late" "Ah come on it's not that bad"
Mark scaled the steps towards the red wood door where a door knocker hanged from the woods surface. It was a gold type of metal, and the sun glistened off of its surface causing Mark to squint as he grabbed a hold of it. He did not knock yet, instead he looked over his shoulder and beckoned Sean to come adding "What are you not dressed well enough to see her? Shall I go and fetch you a business suit to make you look like a fucking penguin?"
Sean replied with a friendly smile, thinking to himself "My god that's the funniest thing he has said today" with this in mind he walked the stairs towards Mark, brushing his fingers through his hair and shoving his hand into his jeans pockets to pull out a gum and pop it into his mouth.
Mark slammed the knocker against the cold steel behind it, causing this to echo through the air. They waited a few seconds before the door opened and were greeted by none other than Kathryn.
Kathryn was the same age as Sean and Mark, eighteen, she was five foot two, long, dark red hair that glistened in the afternoon sun. Her eyes were a tint of green, her skin a pale white.
She beckoned them in with a wave of her hand. As they walked by her eyes fell upon the box that Mark was holding. Than something happened to her, she clasped a hold of her temples with her hands, tightly closed her eyes shut and bit down on her lip. In her head she could hear something that sounded like a choked gasp.
She jumped a little as she felt something grasp her shoulder. Than there was a soft, beautiful voice that entered her head and drowned out the gasps, she was familiar with this voice, it was "Kathryn you all right?" She turned around; it was Sean looking at her with worried eyes as to what he just saw. She nodded her head slightly "Just haven't been sleeping that much lately."
Sean raised his brow knowing that there was more to her sudden shock than just lack of sleep. He knew Kathryn since grade eight; she was the type who was always in bed by ten. "If something is bothering you, you can tell me."
For a split second, her mind faded away, as if she threw herself into a day dream, but immediately came back "Everything is fine."
He walked her into the house and she offered to hang up his jacket with an open hand. Taking his jacket off he places the hem of the collar on her fingers and smiled "Thanks"
She replied back to him with a smile and placed it on the coat rack inside the mud room, walked into the hall way were a boy came running down the stairs towards her. His expression angry, it was noticeable by looking at his eyes.
He was six foot one, curly blonde hair, really pale skin that made him look like an albino with blue eyes. He was wearing a pink t-shirt, and frilly jeans.
Kathryn opened her eyes wide and shook her head in disbelief to what she saw in front of her "What the fuck are you doing in my house Conor!?"
Conor didn't pay any attention to what Kathryn asked him, but directed his attention to the box that was firmly grasped in Marks hands. With curiosity he approached him, staring at the box in wonder, with outstretched arms.
Mark noticed this and brought the box in close to his chest "Get the fuck away from me man, if you know what's good for you!"
Conor looked up at Mark and sneered with a grimace "I want that box!" His voice was sharp, he pushed Mark into the wall. He grasped his hands hands on the box, and with one fierce pull, tore it from his hands and darted out of the house and laughed.
Mark rushed outside to get his box, but stopped as he saw smog seeping from it. "What the fuck is this shit!?" Conor shouted at Mark as the smog wrapped around his leg, and a black scaly hand grasped a hold of his ankle and lifted him off the ground.
Conor started to scream as the smog rose off the ground and formed itself into a black scaly beast. The beast hung Conor upside down and threw him against the cold brick wall.
Conor slid down slowly, his shirt tearing as it met the rough surface of the brick layered wall. He raised his head to see the thing leap at him, with its eight inch claws gleaming in the sun light.
It put a large gash in his face, splattering his blood onto the cement were he sat slouched. His cries echoed through the icy air as the hot blood ran down his face, staining his pink shirt below.
The screaming angered the beast, causing it to grab him by the hem of the shirt and driving him through the wall.
His spin snapped by the pressure of the blow from the beasts force, also with the collision of the breaking bricks. He was pulled forward again to be impaled by in the stomach five claws.
Blood coursed from the opening of his wound, staining his pants and also the claws of the beast. He began to cry with pain, begging the monster to stop; knowing that it wouldn't cause this thing was out for blood and would do anything to get it.
"Please stop!" The thing snarled at Conor and raised him up into the air with one hand, and drove him into the stair case, cracking his skull opening allow the fluid that surrounded his skull to leak out.
The thing crotched down, pulling out pieces of his brain and popping it into his mouth, grinding away at the membrane with quick tearing motions of his fangs.
Mark came back to Earth as he was standing stunned for about what seemed like an hour but was really ten seconds, opened the door and ran into the house.
Kathryn looked at him with worry as he came into the house with fear "What happened Mark!?" "Conor is getting the shit beat out of him from a monster that came from the box!" Kathryn smiled with pleasure to the thought of Conor being whipped around like a rag doll and said with happiness in her voice "The fucker deserved it!"
Back outside the tore Conors leg from its socket and was now eating away at the flesh, and grinding away at the bone to get to the marrow inside. The flesh hanged from its mouth like tethered clothe, the blood dripped from its chin like water droplets. The eyes of the thing blood red as it feasted on the corpse, it let out a cry that made the sky grow dark.
Black Box Chapter Three: Voices
Mark locked the door with haste, and put the chain on to make sure it was secure enough. Turning around on the tip of his foot his eyes directed their attention to his friend. They were full of wonderment to what he had just witnessed, thinking Sean would know an answer to the smog and the creature who happened to be locked away in the box until one day someone brought it into unfamilar terrain. He knew the question could not be answered, he knew that Sean also had no idea to what he just saw. All Mark could do was open his mouth and shut it with awe.
Kathryn was sitting by Sean's right side, smiling with glee as the screams of Conor ringed through her head, picturing the blood shed that painted her house.
She looked at Sean who had his head hung low, twiddling his thumbs in deep thought. His eyes moved from side to side as though he were analyzing the recent events in his head.
Kathryn placed her hands on her lap, slowly got up and took a step down "Well what ever that thing was guys; it did a good job of killing off that fucking prick" Her words were full of haterd and joy as she spoke about the slaughter. It seemed to Sean that she was enjoying this a bit too much, even for her own good.
He shook his head, as though he were trying to wake himself, got up and looked at her with displeasure "Calm down Kate, that thing could come after us for all you know" This was a point that she feared, knowing that thing was outside her house, there was no stopping its feeding frenzy.
Looking at Sean with lowered eyes, she cringed to what he just said, but also at what rang through her head at the moment. A voice spoke to her softly, with a snakes hiss as it slurred the words. "Kathryn, open the door Kathryn" She shook her head, started to talk to herself, trying to drown out the voices "I can't, just can't open the door for you" "Open the door Kathryn, open it for me Kathryn. It's me Kathryn, please let me in Kathryn!" The voice grew angry with lack of patience as she continued to reply back with rejectment.
Sean rose a brow, disconcerted with Kathryn's sudden rambling to herself. He knew there was something wrong here, and walked up to her he placed a hand on her shoulder "Kathryn what is wrong?"
She continued to shake her head, as though the words were not getting to her, she continued rambling on "I can't let you in! I hear his screams, I hear the screams!" "Whose screams Kathryn?" It was as though she wandered off into the land of the unknown, unsure if she would ever return, unsure if she would be stuck in this state of argument between the voices.
The voice continued to speek in the same low hissed voice "Come on Kathryn, you know you want to let me in! Just open the door Kathryn! OPEN IT!" Cringing she made her way towards the door, head lowered, still shaking and replying "Just can't for our sakes" But as though a unknown force were guiding her she unlocked the door, turned the handle, and swung it open just to set her eyes upon Conors magled and dismembered body that rested in a puddle of fresh blood. There was no sight of the beast that appeared from within, only the box at her feet.
As if she were pulled, she lowered towards the glass container, clasped it firmly in palms. A great burden fell upon her as she took it inside the house, closing and locking the door behind her.
Her attention left the box, and was directed at Sean and Mark who looked at her as though she just came back from the grave. "What are you thinking girl!?" Mark said this with a worried voice, mouth a gap as he finished, stunned. Sean was left speechless and abashed.
Kathryn walked passed Mark and Sean, placing the box on a nightable that stood in the hall way, than raised her head in shame "I am sorry guys, I felt as if I were guided" "Guided?" This came from Seans mouth, he left the state he was in before, and now was walking over to her. He looked deeply into her eyes with fear, examining them as though to find an answer to what she had just done. "A force Sean...It's quite hard to explain and I don't think you will ever understand" He placed a finger on her lips and shook his head "Nothing will stop me from understanding you, all you need to do is explain what happened" His eyes were full of determination, and she saw it "There was a voice that spoke to me, it kept demanding me to let it in. In a battle between this unknown source, my body started giving in. As though it was taken over by something. I couldn't do much but watch as I did what I couldn't do. Opening that door and taking the chance of stepping outside. Picking that box up, I felt like crying, but those tears felt forced back. I am sorry guys"
Tears began to run down the side of her cheeks, shutting her eyes so it was noticed. But Sean saw her tears, and lifted her head by placing two fingers under the chin, and pressing upwards. Looking into her green eyes, he smiled and said with a soft, soothing voice "I understand you Kathryn"
She wiped her tears with the sleeve of her shirt, sniffled and looked up at him "You do Sean?" He nodded in reply "Heck something happened to me that I think no one can explain, but I think I can. When Mark had that accident, I somehow had the will to make myself super fast. I was fifteen meters away, I caught that box in midair Kathryn. Just as it was going to hit the cement I caught it"
The tears returned again, but this time they were tears of joy. "Why don't we head upstairs and have ourselves a rest?"
Sean looked at Mark, eyes telling him that he wouldn't mind a snooze after all that has happened, and was guided by Kathryn to the bedrooms.
They reached the top floor with Kathryn brought Mark to his room first. Closing the door, she looked at Sean, smiled, and took a hold of his hand. She brought him down the hall hand in hand, she approached a door.
Grabbing the brass knob, she turned it slowly as her heart beat picked up, bringing him into her room.
He studied the room as he was walked in. It was small but cozy she said. The walls were a tint of red and brown, with a plastercine that decorated the edges of the cealing. A shelf stood in the corner, holding many sorts of things that a person would use in their everday life. It was mostly books, but the things that stood out the most were jewerly boxes and vases.
A bed was against the back wall, touching the left side of the room just slightly. She brought him to sit down, and loosend her grip; cupping her hands, she placed them in between her legs.
Before she could even say anything Sean opened his mouth to speak, and he did "Kathryn I want you to know something." Her eyes glided to his, reading his mind with wonder, asking herself what he will say next. "I've had deep feelings for you since the eighth grade, and still do. Everyday I see your face, everyday I hear your voice, it puts me at ease, making me think that there isn't a worry in the world."
She smiled at this, thoughts going through her mind like a marathon, she replied to his words with a deep, soft kiss.
She cupped her hands on his face, closed her eyes, and embraced the moment as Sean was.
He slipped away from the world, and was brought into what felt like a dream to him, but his heart told him that he was more awake than he was before. It drummed quickly as he brought her in close to him, going into a tight hug as he pressed up against her, adding his tongue into the kiss.
This moment however was interuppted by a loud crash that came from downstairs.
Black Box Chapter Four: Ghostly Encounters
Both of their attentions perked up as they heard the loud crash that seemed to come from the main floor of the house. Both of them had the same thoughts onto what it was, and sat up in the bed stunned in fear as the thoughts of the creature ran through their heads.
They took a moment to glance at eachother, with great suspicion Sean opened his mouth, closed it, and opened it again. "I know we both are thinking the same thing. It must be that creature. What else could it be?"
Kathryn nodded in reply, eyes telling Sean that he was dead right in his theory to their thoughts. But than something unexpected happened, something they thought they would never hear.
"Oh Kathryn, it's me your good friend Kathryn. You remember me don't you? Come on Kathryn you know who I am talking about don't you?" The voice was followed by faint footsteps below, like someone pacing back and forth on hard wood flooring.
The footsteps were followed by the sounds of water droplets than followed by a stench that was too peculiar to the smell. It was the stench of rotting corpses, mixed in with raw sewage.
The light above their heads began to flicker slowly, from the crease in the sides of the walls crept a black smog, that of the one in the box. But that wasn't all, Kathryn's books spontaneously combusted, throwing flames everywhere. From the flames a peach smoke spewed upwards, hitting the cealing and expanding itself like water does on an open floor. The smoke acted in a way of its own, by extending long rods of the peach stuff.
The door began to warp itself, bending inwards, creating a spiral to form in the middle of the wood. Around the creases of the spiral flowed a stream of blood that made it's way to the floor. This also had a mind of its own as it began to shape itself into a human body that both of them were to familar with.
As they watched in horror to what lay upon their eyes as the blood began to gather in the peach like smoke, as though it was creating a layer of skin on itself.
A face formed, than the rest of the body came after, leaving Sean and Kathryn in awe to what they noticed about this thing. "Conor!"
Conor stood infront of them, as the windows burst forward, and a pair of jeans and a shirt shot inside. These slowly hovered above him and lowered onto his body. He zipped up his pants and securely locked the button in place, smiling with pleasure as his name was shouted a loud. "Ah how long it took you to notice, I would have thought better of you after all that time you had to sit through my screams. Would have thought it was asorbed in your minds, but proved wrong in the end."
Kathryn shook her head in disbelief, but came to the conclusion that nothing that has happened in the two days has been unreal. "But you, the creature, body mangled..." Her words were all jumbled up in confusion, but were simply answered with a dark laugh from Conor.
Approaching the bed, he took a moment to examine the shelf that stood in the corner of the room "It is a tragity that all of us can't be known to eachother" This was followed by a low sigh, along with a smeared look on his face.
Kathrny stood up for a moment, wanting to push him against the wall and plow her fist into his face. But something held her back from doing this; he was looking into her eyes with dilated, black pupils. "You know Kathryn, I've always had feelings for you."
Sean sprung up from the bed, fists clenched tightly, his eyes showing fury inside "Kathryn don't listen to him! Conor is dead! It's the box!"
Conor glanced quickly at Sean, and with a snap of his fingers, two arms protruded from the walls, grasping a hold of his shoulders and bounding him tightly.
"I died for you Kathryn, tried to protect you from that beast. But it overpowered me Kathryn."
She stared back in a trance, face left expressionless as the words entered her head as if to intrude in on her thoughts. He was gathering information from her, putting the pieces together like a little kid would with a puzzle.
"You think Sean loves you? You love him, but is that true? You see that I live, your heart tells your differently telling that its deceiving. But it's not!" The room exploded in flames, throwing shadows against the walls, making them sway back and forth.
Sean squirmed in the grasp of the hands that had him, clenching his eyes shut trying to force himself out. But it seemed impossible to him, they were too strong. All he could do was go limp, and watch the girl he loved get fed lies from this obscured being.
"You are lying, my heart tells me truth!" Conor let out a laugh of pity, and approached her slowly with the same dilated pupils that locked onto her eyes.
He stretched out a hand, and grasped a hold of her left wrist tightly, causing her to scream as though he were heating up her skin surface, burning away at her flesh.
Conor was distracted when something loud emitted from the door beside him, as though someone were throwing their body against the wood, trying to break it down.
He glanced back and forth with worry on his face as the door shook feircly, and the wood started to crack around the edges "No stay out intruder!" But they still bombarded the door with fierce blows, eventually breaking it down, leaving a pile of screws loosely rolling around on the wooden floor.
In the doorway stood a figure that was blackened out by the smoke, leaving only a silhouette. "Get out intruder I warn you!" But it approached with great spped, forcing Conor to the ground with a loud crack that happened to be Conor's arm. It feel off like a dying leaf from a tree, twitching on the floor it exploded into a cloud of dust.
Conor let out a blood curdling scream as his arm suddenly fell off, and turned to dust.
Squirming he tried to force the being off of him, but it was to strong, overpowered him in many ways.
The hands that grasp a hold of Sean for a brief period of time, dissapeared slowly, leaving Sean to slide down onto the bed panting heavily.
He raised his head with his sweat dripping from the brows and noticed something familar here. "Mark!"
Mark looked over his shoulder for a brief second, and was knocked hard in the face by a cold hand, and was knocked over to his side. His nose was shattered, allowing blood to pour out from the nostrels and onto the floor like a tap. "You're a fucking prick you know that?" Conor was walking towards the downed Mark, towering him in a shadow of darkness.
Mark looked up with fear in his eyes, as his life flashed before him knowing that it was the end of his life. "Ready to die Mark?" He raised his right arm into the air, molding it into a giant mallet.
But before he could bring the arm down, he was knocked over by a force from a far.
Lifting his eyes, Mark saw Sean forcing Mark into the wall with incrediable force.
Conor hit the wall with a bone breaking thud, causing his remaining arm to fall off with ease.
Grabbing a hold of the hem of his pink shirt and bringing him towards his face with fury in his eyes. "Now you listen hear Conor. We left you dead, and you better stay dead. You made a dumb decision coming back and interrupting us with your foolish words." With a quick motion, Sean pulled out the black box from his sweater, smiling with glee "But Kathryn left that on the night stand! How do you have it!?"
Sean laughed as Conor babbled on in confusement and shook his head "When Kathryn was in the trance, I quickly switched the boxes. If you look again Conor, the box that is on the night table, is simply a jewelry box that I found lying around in the house. You'd be amazed at how fast I can move." He proved this by leaping back, sealing Conor inside of the box in an instint, as though he didn't even make a single motion.
"How did you!?" This came from Kathryn as she gazed into Sean's eyes with wonderment as to how he was able to make Conor disappear like that, this was answered by two simple words "Black Box"
Kathryn raised a brow in confusement to the words "Black Box" and as if her thoughts were read Sean began to explain as if he knew everything about this object "The Black Box is a ancient artifact from the Dark Ages. It held a beast that went by the name of Argonus, meaning creature of darkness and smoke. Argonus was sealed in this box, and placed on a pedistal in the temples of Jarum. This is in the Bahamas. This box has the ability to share its power with the current holders. It grants the power of speed, strength, and the ability to translate the ancient language of Argonus."
The room turned dark as he finished speaking, it wasn't only the room, but the whole city seemed to be blanketed by a sleet of smog. From the box seeped the same smog that informed them of Argonus's arrival.
