Heart Strong
The professor stood at the front of the class, droning on about the program "Microsoft Word"

The professors name is Mr.Ryan. He is thirty-five, stands five foot ten, medium length brown hair, which is slicked back with gel. His skin is a tanned colour, which clashes with his bombardier blue eyes. The garmets he wore was that of a buisness mans suit.

His eyes scanned the room as he paced back and forth, gently swinging the metal pointer stick in his gripped hand. "The program Microsoft Word, is a program whose means are for writting the word of literature in many forms. I shall guide you through the many capabilities Word gives you, and shall teach you all I know."

A girl sat at the far left table of Mr.Ryan, she seemed to be lost in her own boredom as the drawn out lecture dug into her skull. She gazed over to her left, to land her eyes on the guy next to her. A smile formed on her face, wiping away the blankless expression that once blanketed her.

A surge of pain shot throughout her body, as something hit her hand with a fierce strike. She let out a yelp, and took her attention to what ever took her by suprise.

Behind her stood Mr.Ryan, with dissapointment looming over him as he stared down on the his pupil. "Ms.Winston, I will not tolerate behaviour such as you have just demonstrated."

A laughter could be heard from infront of her, this laughter came from a girl that went by the name of Maya. She was a Mexican, face fairly dark, hair was medium black curls. Her eyes were a autumn orange, and when she stood tall, she measured up to a five foot three.

"Looks like Kathryn was dozing off again Mr.Ryan!"

Laughter broke from her again, just to be silenced by Mr.Ryan's harsh voice "Ms.O'Donald! I will also not tolerate foolish behaviour such as yours in the class room!"

Kathryn let a smirk come forward, as she took pleasure in the embarassment of Maya O'Donald's.

Kathryn was five foot one, coke-can red hair that met the shoulders. Her skin tone was pale, eyes of green that stood out. She wore a lime green vest, with a dark and light green striped, long sleeved, t-shirt.

She gazed above her, eyes meeting with the bombardiers of Mr.Ryans. He looked at her with fury as she seemed to take liking in O'Donald's little mishap.

"Now if you would please pay attention to the lesson, Ms.Winston, I would love to carry on."

She gave him a polite nod, followed by a smile "Yes Professor, please carry on."

She looked away from the Professor and threw her eyes towards the boy that sat next to her. She knew a little about this guy, knew he wasn't from the states, but from the great North; Canada. She knew his name was Sean, and knew that he was skillful in the English department, but what lingered inside her, that she did not know, was her feelings towards this Canuck.

Sean was six foot one, medium length, dirty blonde hair. Somewhat tanned skin, hazel eyes, and ear pierced on the left. He wore a black t-shirt, with the Corona symbol on it.

The bell sounded off for the end of class.

He saw her looking at him from the corner of his eye, and drew his attention to her, greeting her with a warm smile. This made her turn her head, and blush red on the cheeks. A wide smile formed on her face and she thought to herself "Ah jeez Kathryn, come on you're making a fool of yourself. Say something to him."

She looked back, turning her head slowly, thinking over at what she should say to him. But by the time her face was directed towards the opposite side of her, Sean had already grabbed his bag, and was heading towards the door.

She let out a longed sigh, resting her chin in her palm, and elbow on the desk as she drew her eyes upwards to Mr.Ryan, who was standing above her, gazing at her with confusement.

"Why do you stay in your seat, Ms.Winston, when the bell rang a minute ago?"

She perked up in shock, knowing that the bell had just rang, but not knowing that a minute has passed. She grabbed a hold of her back pack and threw it over her shoulder. She stumbled a bit as she came up from her seat, letting out an embarassed laugh as she steadied herself.

"Just lost in thought Professor..."

This was somewhat true, yes she was lost in thought, but also in dream. She knew that feeling deep down was her heart that beat for someone she had it set on. But what held her back was the question "What does he think of me?" This is the very question that made her blush, made her wander off into a dream of contentment, and act how she did.

Without any further hesitation, she darted towards the door, trying to catch up with the Canadian, but was shortly stopped by another student whom she came to dislike.

"Conor!"

Conor stood five foot ten, medium blonde hair, very pale skin and blue eyes. These features made him look like an albino. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. He gave Kathryn a smirk and approached her slowly, backing her up against the wall, eyes squinted.

"So Kathryn..."

Her back was now against the wall, her eyes looking into his with fear as to what he was going to do to her, what he was going to say to her.

He placed his hand on the wall, just inches from her face. He brought his face towards hers, so that his eyes were only inches away, staring into her green ones.

"That new kid, that Canadian...I know you like him Kathryn; but you see I won't come to the idea that you having him is so great."

"Conor you'd better back off if you know what's good for you."

He chuckled as she said this, paused and breathed against her neck, and in a shallow voice he continued.

"Now lets not be vague Kathryn, you know you do have feelings for me...So stop trying to deny it!"

Conor perked up as he felt something tap his shoulder. He slowly turned around, ready to tell the person who tapped him to fuck off. But when he did he backed up against the wall as he saw Sean standing behind him, arms crossed against his chest, eyes staring at him with distaste.

Conor began to stutter a bit, trying to form his words as he quickly threw them out "W-what do you want Canadian!?"

Sean gave a smile as he watched Conor shake in his boots, and leaned down towards him, just so that his eyes met his, inches away.

"I want you to leave this lovely lady alone, if you really know what's good for you."

Conor glanced towards Kathryn in fright, than back at Sean.

"No one tells Conor Rusel what to do you hear! No one!"

Sean grabbed a hold the hem of his shirt and slammed him into the wall, with a loud thud.

Conor's head bounced off the back, causing him to yell out in pain as Sean brought him forward, so the tips of their noses touched.

"I am going to tell you again. I want you to leave Kathryn alone, if you really know what's good for you."

He let go of Conors shirt, didn't take his eyes off of his, and watched Conor loose balance, and fall to the floor.

Kathryn watched in amusement as Conor stumbled to his feet, and dusted himself off.

Without a single glance, he darted off down the hall way in a hurry.

Sean watched Conor as he ran down the hall ways, and smiled gently.

"Thanks for doing what you did. That was really nice of you"

Sean turned around on the tip of his foot, his eyes meeting hers, and he smiled "It was nothing really. We can't have arrogant pricks like him running around the school, thinking they can do anything they please."

Kathryn began to blush a bit, lowering her head to hide it, but was stopped by the warm touch of his hand.

He lifted her head up, looked her into her eyes deeply "Are you free for dinner?"

This came to her as a shock, her face lighting up with the colour of red. She looked away from him, smiling with joy as she was asked out to "diner"

"Free as always, have nothing else to do."

Sean smiled to this answer, and leaned towards her, planting a kiss on her right cheek "I will pick you up at eight tonight."

She gave him a nod, and he headed off down the hall way.

As he was out of sight, she rested her head against the wall, sighed to herself, than looked up.

"Diner with Sean"

Heart Strong Chapter One-Dinner with Sean
She stood in the hall way with deep silence; eyes set down on the floor, head tilted downwards. She came to the realization that this was no dream, but a dream come true for her. She shook herself from this state, raised her head slowly, and noticed that she had been standing in the same spot for at least five minutes.

"People are going to think I am petrified if I don't leave..."

She smiled at this, let out a silent laugh, and made her way towards the exit door. But something stopped her, something made her perk up with shock, it was a sound. Yes. The sound of heavy footsteps behind her, followed by a grumbling voice. She noticed this tone well enough to know it was...

"Conor...Didn't Sean tell you to leave me alone?"

He just passed her as though she were a statue that one would just examine, look away, and continue on with what they were doing. This is what he did. He took a moment, looked at her with deep cowardice, and carried on with the grumbling.

Kathryn rose a brow in question to why Conor acted like he did. She knew that Sean rattled him like a baby would with its first toy; but to do what he did, followed by that blundering tone of his; that was something she hadn't seen him do.

She just shrugged, and made her way out with graceful steps, dance like almost as she said to herself, just so she could only hear it "Dinner with Sean."

Sean shoved his right hand into his jeans pocket, fished around for his keys, and pulled them out when the tips of his fingers felt the cold steel of the teeth.

He flipped through the half dozen gold and silver keys, and stopped on a black plastic, and metal, Mitubishi car key. Approaching the drivers door, with the tip outstretched so that he could insert it into the slot. He pulled back, placed the keys back into his pocket. His eyes slanted towards his left, than to his right. Someone was there, he knew it, he could hear the heavy footsteps, they were talking to themselves. He turned around on the tip of his foot, eyes fixed infront, and he was ready to pounce if it were to be a drunk who was looking for a fight.

He lowered his guard, stood up straight, and shook his head in embarassment. "Kathryn, I thought you were someone else for a minute there." He ruffled up his hair, closing his eyes in a smile, and shoved his hand into his pants pocket to play with his keys.

"Sorry if I startled you, I was just kind of..." "No I just kind of was caught off guard..."

Kathryn smiled as he lowered his head and sighed. She approached him slowly, and grabbed a hold of his chin gently, and lifted his face so that his eyes met hers. "You're so cute when you are startled."

"Hey since you're here, I was wondering if you would like to go to Dinner now?"

She simply answered this with a hug, nuzzling her face into his jacket "Of course"

He took out the car keys as she let him go, and inserted them into the slot, turned them, and opened the car door.

He walked around the other side to do the same, opening the passenger door for Kathryn, and beckoning her over. Holding the door open for her, he gave her a polite smile as she got in.

As he entered the drivers side, shut the door carefully, he looked over to her, thoughts ran through his head as his eyes land upon her beautiful face. His heart raced, almost leaping out from his chest. Then taking his eyes off of her, he turned on the engine, backed up, and drove out of the parking lot. In the rearview mirror, Sean could see a faint silhouette, face only barely noticeble as a dim light shone down from above. It was Conor, he was standing in the parking lot, peering at the car as it made it's way out.

Sean noticed that he shook his fist with fury, and headed towards the back end of the lot.

He perked up as he felt something soft touch his hand. Looking over he noticed that Kathryn had placed her hand on his, locking her fingers with his. She was smiling, a smile that warmed up his heart, and he brought his eyes infront, and drove.

They came to a stop infront of a building, it was a restauraunt. The name of the place was Red Dragon, a chinese restauraunt in which was well known for it's fine chinese dinining.

The engine turns off, Sean pulls the keys from the slot, and shoves them back into his pants. He takes a moment to look at Kathryn with awe, thoughts going through his head like a marathon. He steers his attention away to open the door, and step out. Going around to the other side, he opens the door for Kathryn so she could get out.

She gave him a warm smile, as her feet touched the ground below "Thanks" He simply nodded, closed the door, and grabbed a hold of her arm, in his crooked one.

As they enter through the doors, they were hit with the strong scent of Chicken, Rice, and Chop Suey.

They approached the podium, and waited for someone to come and serve them.

A few minutes passed before a waiter came walking up, he was dressed in a casual white shirt, and black pants. His black hair was slicked back, and he was Chinese of course. Stood about five foot one, and had brown eyes. "Welcome to the Red Dragon, I will be your waiter for today, follow me please."

He beckoned them into the large square area, where they followed the little man as he brought them through a red lit room.

They approached a booth, and slid down onto the seats, at eachothers side as the waiter asked them if they wanted anything to drink at the moment.

"Bring your finest wine" Sean replied with certainty.

He left to get the wine, leaving them alone together.

Kathryn looked at Sean, and grabbed a hold of his hand gently, locking her fingers in his.

Sean was hit with a feeling that words could not describe. A sensation of warmth coarsed through his body, leaving mind and sense all toghether. No care in the world at all. For he was with her, he was with the girl he wants to have. This was the feeling he had been searching for, the feeling of loving someone that you were meant to love.

This little feeling was interrupted by a certain bottle of wine that was placed on the table. He shook himself out of the thought, and looked up at the waiter as though he came out of a dream. Along with the wine, came two red, leather menu's.

The waiter left, Sean opened the menu, and began to flip through the laminated pages, scanning the food up and down the page. "Decisions, decisions..." He said this quietly under breath.

Minutes passed before they were asked if they were ready to order up the food. Sean closed the menu, looked up at the waiter and nodded "I will have Steak, with a baked potatoe" As he said this the waiter scratched down notes on a sheet of paper, glanced at Kathryn and waited for her order to be said.

She paused, still scanning the pages, and placed a finger on one order "I will have an order of chicken balls, chop suey, and a ceaser salad." The waiter wrote down her orders, and took his leave.

After they finished the food, and got the bill, which Sean paid for, giving the waiter a two dollar tip, they made their way outside.

Out on the sidewalk, Sean held Kathryn in his arms, holding her head to his chest, stroking her head gently. The feeling was back, the feeling he had experianced back at the restauraunt, it was back.

He looked up at the star lit sky, and sighed deeply "It's so beautiful out." She nodded in reply, nuzzling her face against him.

He looked down at her, smiled and guided her towards the car door. Opening it for her, he stood, looking down the street as something caught his attention. It was a yellow car, pretty rusted up. One of the headlights were broken, easily noticeble, and the engine was still running. A figure sat, watching him with squinted eyes, these were the only things that were known to Sean, it was his eyes.

Ignoring the strange person, he got in the car, sat silently, and leaned towards Kathryn. Cupping her face with his hands, his lips pressed against hers, in a soft, tender kiss. There eyes closed slowly, bodies coming close to press up against eachother.

He broke from the kiss, startled by a loud bang that seemed to emit from behind them. Sean peered into the rear view mirror to see the person behind them get out of the car, and stumble towards them. It looked as though they had too many drinks, couldn't steady themselves.

Kathryn looked at Sean with worry, knowning something was wrong when she saw his expression change from happiness to fear. "Sean what is it?"

He turned the engine on, placed his foot on the gas peddle, and drove off, staring in his rear view mirror as the strange figure slithered back into the yellow car and followed them. "Someone is following us Kathryn, and I don't have a good feeling about it..."

Heart Strong Chapter Two: Phone Calls

Sean slammed the door behind him, his eyes jumping from window to window in concern as to who was following them.

Just as he guided his eyes towards Kathryn, he caught a glimpse of the dim yellow light that the oval shaped glass radiated. It was the yellow car, and the driver took heed, turning the engine off.

A red light lit up inside the compartment, and a thin line of smoke danced upwards, the red light darkening as the driver inhaled on the paper end. Their eyes were visible, basked with an eerie glow as they smoked the ciggarette.

Sean's eyes gazed deeply into Kathryns, showing that he was afraid as to if this follower was armed, or not. Kathryn could read his eyes well, and took notice to this as she wrapped her arms around him, bringing him into a tight hug. Bringing his right hand up, he brushes his fingers through her hair as her face rested upon his chest. Sean was still looking out at the car, studying the driver like a dog studying a cat. His attention perked up just as he noticed the car door open slowly, and the driver planting his foot onto the ground with caution, as though they were parked in no mans land.

"Sean, what's wrong?" The tone of her voice was soft, but worried and shaky. Her arms pulled his body up against hers in a state of fear.

Just before he could give her his answer, the phone rang, causing both of them to jump in suprise.

Kathryn shuffled to the phone, looking back at Sean, she gave him a worried look that told him right away that this was an uneasy situation, what with the follower and Coners persuasive ways. She picked up the phone slowly, and bringing it to her ear she spoke softly "Hello?"

There was a long pause on the other end, than a heavy breathing broke the silence. This sent chills down her spine, making her feel as though some tormenting person was standing right behind her, with blood shot eyes. This sent her heart into a gallop, and she spoke, slurring her words "Who is this!?"

The voice on the other end responded with an eerie coldness, as though they were speaking through a thin layer of ice. "You know dammed well who this is Kathryn, don't you fuck around with me Kathryn!"

She turned her head towards Sean, who was starring out of the window, scanning for the driver who had seemed to wander off into the barren land of sand.

The caller hung up, leaving Kathryn crying as she held the phone against her right ear. This caught Sean's attention, and he rushed to her.

Taking the phone from her hand, and hanging it up; he threw his arms around her, and began to brush her hair with his fingers as he whispered softly "It's going to be ok. I am here for you. Who ever this person is, and what ever they told you Kathryn. They will regret it. You should never anger a Canadian."

This made her laugh a little, bringing a warm smile onto her face as she looked up at him, whiping the tears off her face. "That's right, I have you to protect me. You are better than any weapon that can be found in the world. You are my lover and protector. It's great to have you Sean." She leaned up towards his face, getting onto the tips of her toes. Grabbing the hem of his shirt, she pulled him down, so she could place her lips on his in a passionate kiss.

Their little moment was distracted by the ringing of the phone. Pulling back from the kiss, he looks into her eyes, sending messages across to her. These messages told her that he would answer the call, incase it was that pycho again.

Picking up the phone, he placed it to his ear, and greeted casually as he usually would "Hello?"

"You think you're so smart, don't you? Well let me tell you, you fucking Canuck, you don't know who you are dealing with. So I advise you, stay away from Kathryn, if you know what's good for you."

The caller hung up, leaving Sean stadning in the room with the ring tone resounding through out his head, cluttering his thoughts with ideas as to who the caller is. It sounded out from mind, and heart. They were screaming out his name, trying to put his conscience at ease. It screamed "Conor!" the guy who Sean had no fear in, only pity for him.

He shifted his eyes towards the blackend window, gazing off into the night sky that was dotted with crystals.

There was a loud knock against the back wall of the room, followed by a grinding noise that resembled metal scrapping across the pavement. This was followed by a taunting voice "Come out, come out, you fucking Canuck. Game is over, and it is time to die. First I will rip out your eyes, than I will tear out your heart. I will leave you to die, for the coyotes to find."

In annoyance, Sean hurried towards the entrance door, picking up a steel bat that sat inside the mud room's cubert.

Kathryn shouted in worry, knowing what he was about to do. "Sean! Don't go outside! You never know what they carry. It could be anything."

He glanced over his shoulder as he threw his jacket on. Grinning at her, he shifted his eyes towards the door, and went into a deep thought. "I have to bring a stop to this intruder Kathryn, and if I don't...They will just keep calling and throwing fear into your eyes. I don't want you to live a life of paranoia, which will have you locking yourself in this very house."

He began to unlock the door, when he heard the sound of shattering glass; and when he turned around, Conor entered the house, placing his leg over the window sill. "I told you to stay away from her, and now that you stay, you just made your grave!"

Conor held a led pipe in his right hand, and beating the padding of his left with the top of the pipe.

Sean raised the bat over his shoulder in defense as he dashed towards Conor with great speed.

Conor brought his arm back, ready to swing forward when the time came. His eyes locked onto Sean, studying his movements carefully, and just as he came a few meters away from him, Conor made his way forward. He stumbled as he moved, in a half drunken state, he swung the led pipe with haste.

Sean ducked, and dodged Conors attempts at hitting him; and every time Conor came close enough, he would hit Conor in the side with the bat. This made him grunt in pain, as the skin began to bruise a bit, making his concentration fall upon his injury. "You fucking prick, I oughta!" He swung at Sean frantically, swiping away at the wind, and missing Sean everytime. His balance started to loose itself, and he began to tip from side to side as he attacked.

"Come on Conor, you better stop your nonsense before I actually attack you." Sean smacked Conor in the side again, than bringing the bat back for another attack.

Conor let out a laugh of amusement as he sturdied himself upon the rod. "Me, stop!?" Reaching inside his coat pocket, he took out a 9mm pistol, and pointed it at Sean. "You fuck off Canuck! I am warning you!"

Sean dropped to the floor just as he pulled the trigger. A bullet pierced through the wall like a finger going through wet paper.

Getting up with haste, Sean cracked the edge of the bat over Conor's skull, causing him to fall to the floor with a loud thud. Blood seeped from the crack in his head, soaking his hair in a scarlet red.
