Chapter Nine
A New Friend
The next day,Nick woke up,got out of bed,and started writing a note.When he finished the note,he placed it on the night stand next to his sister's bed and left the room they where staying in.He walked down the stairs into the waiting room,where he saw a girl about his age sitting in a seat near the stairs.
"Hello,"he said,trying to be polite.
"Huh?"the girl looked at him with her beautiful ocean blue eyes,"Oh hello."
"Are you checking in?"asked Nick.
"No,I'm not,"said the girl,"I don't really know why I came here."
"Oh okay,"said Nick,"Say would you like to go for a walk with me?"
"Hmp,"she turns her head away from him,"I don't walk with complete strangers."
"Oh okay.I understand that.Sorry."
She looks at him,"It's okay.You seem awefully nice."
Nick blushes,"Thanks."
"Your welcome,"said the girl as she smiled at him.
Nick looks at the empty seat next to her,"May I sit down?"
The girls nods.Nick sits down next to her.
"So what is your name?"asked the girl,"Mine is Rose."
"My name is Nick.And I love your name."
Rose blushed,"Why thank you,Nick."
"Your welcome,"said Nick,smiling at her.
"So...what about that walk?"
"I thought that you didn't walk around with complete strangers."
"Well...you're not a complete stranger anymore."
"Oh okay,"said Nick,standing up and holds his hand out to her.Rose grabs on to his hand.He grabs her hand and pulls her up on to her feet.She blushed and looked at him.He was blushing very slightly.She lurched forward and kissed him on the cheek.He blushed more and looked at her in surpirse.She looked at him also surprised at what she had done.
"Sorry,"she said,turning away from him.
He places a hand on her shoulder and says,"It's okay,Rose."
She looks over her shoulder at him,"Are you sure?"
He nods,"Yes,I am.Now come on.Let's go."
Nick starts to walk to the door.Rose follows him.
Mean while,in the room,Lena started to wake up and saw the note on her night stand.She picks it up and reads it.
"Went for a walk.Will be back before dark."
Lena sits up and places the note back on her night stand.She gets out of bed,goes over to her backpack,and takes out her other clothes.Haru wakes up and looks at Lena,"Morning,Lena."
"Good morning,Haru,"said Lena,taking a towel out of her backpack,"I'm going to go take a shower,okay?"
He nods,"Okay."
She goes to the bathroom with her clothes and her towel.Haru sighs,gets up,and went out of the room.
Mean while,outside of the inn,Rose and Nick were walking around the block.
"How about we go to the beach?"asked Rose.
"Sounds good to me,"said Nick.He started to head toward the beach.Rose followed him.
"Why are you here,Nick?"asked Rose.
"I'm just helping my sister get this idiot to Japan,"answered Nick.
"Why?"
"Because it's our job."
"To transport people to Japan?"
"No.Just to protect this one guy."
"Oh okay.So what is this 'idiot' named?"
"Haru..."answered Nick,wondering why she was asking him these questions.
"Okay...Could you take me with you,your sister,and this Haru guy?"
"I'd have to ask Lena."
"Who's she?"
"My sister."
"Oh okay.Then let's go ask her."
"Hold on.First you want to go to the beach and now you want to go ask Lena if you can come with us to Japan?"
"Yep,"said Rose,nodding,"I've always wanted to go to Japan."
"Really?"
Rose nods.Nick sighs,"Okay.I'll go ask Lena."
"Yay!"exclaimed Rose,obviously very excited,"So where is Lena?"
"In our room,back at the inn."
"Okay,"said Rose,smiling.Nick heads back to the inn.Rose follows him.
Mean while,Lena walks out of the bathroom dressed in a red tank top and a black skirt,"Haru,you can come back in now."
"Okay,"said Haru as he opened the door.
Lena smilkes at him.
"Hey,Lena,can I tell you something?"asked Haru,a little nerviously.
"Sure,"she said as she walked up to him.
"I....um....."started Haru,his heart slowly beating faster,"I........um..........love.........um..........um.....................you....."
"You love me?You don't sound too sure about that,"said Lena.
"Well I am sure and Nick told me about the curse."
"He did?"asked Lena,surprised,"He never even told any of his friends at school.What did you do to make him tell you?"
"Bribery..."said Haru,faintly.
"HARU!!!"yelled Lena,"How much?!"
"Fifty dollars,..."said Haru,"But I tried to make him take twenty-five dollars."
Lena glares at him,"Never EVER give him a bribe over thirty from now on,okay?"
Haru nods.
"Good,"she said as there was a knock on the door,"Open it,Haru."
"I forgot,who's the prince around here?"
"Fine,"said Lena,sighing.She walks over to the door,opens it,and is surprised to find that it was Nick with a girl,"Hello..."
"Konichiwa!"said Rose,happily.
"Hey,sis,"said Nick,"This is my new friend,Rose."
Rose smiles.
"Oh okay,"said Lena,"So what do you two want?"
"I was thinking that maybe Rose could come with us on our journey to Japan,"said Nick.He looks at his sister pleadingly.
"I don't think we need anymore people in this group,"said Haru.
"I think the same thing,"said Lena,now looking at Haru.
"How come we can't take her?You two are not giving enough evidence as to why she can't come.I mean it's not like she'd be in the way or anything,"said Nick,angry at both of them.
"Yeah,you aren't,"said Rose,"I could cook for you.I'll do anything to travel with all of you to Japan."
"I still say no,"said Haru.
"Well I say that she can,"said Lena.
"Well,I'm the prince of Japan.So I have power over you,Lena,"said Haru.
Lena looks at Nick and Rose,"We'll be a minute."
Lena closes the door and glares at Haru,"Don't you dare think that I'm inferor to you just because you're a prince,"she said,angrily.
"But you are.You're just my protector."
"Is that all I am to you?"she said as she looked at him sadly,"Your protector?"
Relizes what he had said,"Oh no,of course it isn't."
"Are you sure?"asked Lena.
He nods,"Yes I am."
"Then why did you say that?"
"I don't know,but I didn't mean to..."
"Liar.You did mean it."
"No."
"Yes."
"No!"
"Yes!"
"NO!"
"YES!"
"No and that's final."
"Fine,"said Lena,rolling her eyes.
"And that Rose girl is not coming."
"Yes,she is."
"No,she's not."
"Yes,she is,"Lena said,grabbing her sword.
"Okay!Okay!She can come with us and there's no need to get that violent."
Lena puts her sword away and looks at him,smiling,"Yeah,I know."
Haru glares at her as she opened the door again.
"So can she come with us?"asked Nick the minute the door openned.Rose looked at Lena wanting to know the same thing.
Lena giggles,"You know I always win my fights,Nick.So yes she can come."
"Yay!"exclaimed Rose and she hugs Nick.Nick blushes and lightly pushes her away from him.She lets him go,"Sorry,Nick."
"It's okay,"said Nick,still blushing.
Lena smiles,"Looks like someone's in love."
Nick's blush goes brighter and Rose starts to blush.Lena giggles.Haru looks at Rose and Nick,"Who would want to fall in love with braty Nick?"
"I'm not braty!"exclaimed Nick,now glaring at Haru.Lena and Rose also glared at him.
"Great!Now everyone's against me,"mumbled Haru.
"Just shut up you idiot!"yelled Rose.
"I wasn't talking to you,you little pain in the butt,"said Haru.
"She's not a pain!"yelled Nick.
"That's enough!!!"yelled Lena over everyone else.Everyone goes silent and look at Lena,"Now let's all get packed and continue our journey,okay?"
Nick and Haru nod and run into the room to pack their stuff.Lena looks at Rose,"Aren't you going to get packed?"
"Well I didn't bring anything with me so I guess I'm already packed."
"Oh okay.Then just wait out here for us,okay?"
"Nah,I'll wait downstairs,"said Rose as she headed for the stairs.
"Okay,"said Lena before she walked into the room to start packing.
Rose walked down the stairs into the waiting room and sat down in a chair closest to the stairs.He's going to pay for leaving me here,she thought.I'll join up with these people to get to Japan and get revenge on my brother and that assitant of his.
Haru,Nick,and Lena headed down the stairs with their backpacks packed.Nick looks at rose and smiles.She smiles back at him.
"Now it's time to go,"said Lena,walking over to the front door.Nick,Rose,and Haru follow her out the door.
