My first song of 2007! xD
This is a coursework project for my 'crossovers and fusions' module. It combines elements of traditional African, Indian and Western pop and electronic music. :)

I mimicked a sarangi on my violin which was quite fun. Sounds fairly authentic?! Hee hee.

.:: DESERT GARDEN ::.
© Helen E. Trevillion - 2007

you are air, you are rain
falling on my eyes
wash away, wash away
smoke in jaded skies

all I want, all I want
is the candlelight in me -
so alive, so alive -
only to be freed

and all the lies inside will unfold
and leave my desert garden open wide
I'm not afraid of the night
on the other side

you and I, you and I
what amazing lives we lead
we are seeds, we are seeds
holding everything

and I breathe, now I breathe
all the things in you I love
so alive, so alive
you have shown me that

the light unborn inside will awaken
and will leave my garden open wide
and I'm not afraid of the midnight
on the other side

I'm not afraid of the night
I'm not afraid of the night

StarGazerAngel Says:

Okay, you need to sign with a label of some sort. Tell me when your album is done, because I'm definitely getting it, and you are definitely improving. I like these new fusions you're doing. They bring out a new potential, a new sound, in your voice.

Kyoumi Says:

Hm...

Donut Says:

I really like this! Reminds me a hell load of Delerium, quite nice, very good job ;3

AuroranWolf Says:

Oh this very beautiful. I think of Enya when I hear it. :3 Maybe it's cuz she does a lot of differet new age and culture themes.
Could I ask for a copy of this? I only want it to listen to, nothing more.

Winged Sence Says:

Oooh I LOVE this!
Such exotic moods about it, it's one of your better peices(From what i've heard so far )
I don't really ever understand the lyrics, but it doesn't take away from the song one bit. And I love the viriety of instruments used here. I get the image of a painting I saw a long time ago, I can't remember what it had on it but I think it was of a lady and a bunch of stoic landmarks The pyramids, Mayan temple etc.
It's a very good peice and it's alot different from what i've seen out of your other works, so good job!

2key Says:

wow, wow, wow...really love it. It's really oriental, and has this fantastic groove. Your voice fits in perfectly...I'd masterpiece it... :)

fallenangel20xx Says:

WOW, Thats so good I can't even macth it. * falls over *

AngelsDontKill Says:

Your voice is gorgeous! (not that a voice can have a physical description) But yeah, your voice, and this sound reminds me a lot of Lacuna Coil. I know you worked hard on this, and it deffinately sounds like it, but I still think this is missing something. Maybe I am just weird though. It's probably because to me this song didn't sound like it had much structure like a normal song. I mean, it did and all, but I guess I kept expecting a chorus that totally changed the song. But don't get me wrong, what you did is great and I love it! It's probably just because of songs I am used to listening to (I listen to metal...)

Chrono404 Says:

WoW I love this song, Everything just flows perfectly ^___^

Cyril Says:

Very good. This definitely was what you were giong for... I just have to run, so can't talk to much...
