Castle of Illusions Chp Six

Chapter Six: Home sweet Home

As Mr.Keener led Crystal and James through the paths that would soon lead them to his castle grounds; Jacob Miller was inside the castle floating around with the up most wonder and amazement.

The lobby was fairly large, carpeted with a red and white diamond carpet. The walls were made from the weeping willows from outside, and coloured a deep burgundy. A chandelier hung above lazily, light passing through the clear and transparent crystals to throw a rain bow across the room. A large and wide wooden stair case lay out at the back of the lobby, splitting from the top and forking to the left and right. A many number of doors stood at his sides, all closed and calling his name. They were all marked with a number, classifying which room it was. To his far left, a door marked room number three, with the words "Kitchen" written beneath.

His curiosity was overwhelming, his thoughts overflowing and engulfing him with such wonder as to what might lye behind these doors. The kitchen in his mind, was the best place to start because it meant food, and he was quite hungry at the time.

"Lets see what is behind door number three Jhonny."

Advancing towards the door, he held his stomach with claw like hands, his eyes fixed upon the words "kitchen".

Lowering his hand towards the brass knob, he took one last glance over his shoulder as if he were being watched by something or someone.

Turning the knob slowly, he peered through the crack that led into the room that lay behind this door, and to his suprise he found something he wouldn't imagine possible.

"Good lord..."

As he stood there with his mouth opened in awe, his eyes scanned the glorious burden that lay out front. The kitchen was over filled with the many assortments of meat and cheese. They were stacked high upon a table that stood in the middle of the room. To the far right was a large porcelain refridgerator.

Jacob approached the fridge, in hope of a nice cold and refreshing soda to top off a nice and satisfying ham sandwhich. His stomach answered with a growl as he grasped a hold of the metal handle, and tugged on it. Nothing happened, the door was cealed tightly. With feirce tugs, he attempted at opening the fridge, but with bitter frustration and failure, he diverted his attention away from the fridge and towards the mountain of meat on the table.

As he gave up on the opening of the fridge and headed towards the meat, something behind him scurried by.

Turning around quickly, fear in his eyes and face, Jacob grasped a hold of his heart as to what might be in his very presence.

"Hello?"

This word resounded throughout the kitchen, leaving him and his echo to be the only ones around. Until the scurrying started up again in the far corner by the fridge.

What to his wonder he might see, a pair of blood red eyes peered out from the dark depths of the shadows. Fear exploded inside of him, sweat began to run down his face, and his heart began to beat heavily against his chest.

"What in god's name is that?"

The pair of eyes answered that question, and an over sized leech with legs sprung from the shadows, its mouth a gap revealing pearly white fangs that lay around the mouth.

"Oh hell no."

Jacob scurried away from the thing as it streaked towards him. Looking over his shoulder he saw the thing plunge its fangs into a slice of ham. A sucking noise came from the monsterous leech, devouring the blood from the meat, and leaving it dry as a bone.

The leech reared its head at Jacob, opened its mouth wide, its blood red eyes turning into mere slits. Thoughts ran through his mind as the thing soared through the air towards him, he knew that death was at his door step, and it came a knocking for him.

Just as the thing was about to sink its fangs into his tender flesh, Jacob jumped to his left leaving the leech to collide with the far wall with a loud thud.

Dusting off his pants as he got onto his feet, Jacob looked around for the thing, but it could not be found. A trail of slime led towards a pantry in the far right corner, and the two blood red eyes peered out at him with hate. The thing knew that there was no use in contending for blood.

Jacob ran out from the kitchen, and slammed the door behind him, leaning up against it and clutching his chest with his hand. His breathing was heavy and his heart galloped inside. Sweat poured from his face, coating him with a fine layer of water. Relief fell over him as Mr.Keener entered the house with two teenagers.

"Mr.Keener!"

He made a dash towards him, still panting fairly heavily, grasping a hold of Mr.Keener's jacket he stuttered out the words.

"Your Kitchen...I-Is infe-fes-fested with lee-leeches!"

Mr.Keener raised a brow, and looked from James and Crystal with wonder. Than he smiled gently as he kneeled down and placed a hand upon Jacob's shoulder. His eyes looked into his, bringing him in a trance.

"It's all right, Jacob Miller, there are no leeches in my home, for they could not live out of water."

"But, Mr.Keener, there in the kitchen, a leech of enormous size."

A chuckle escaped his throat as he shook his head with doubt.

"Unlikely, Jacob Miller, that there would be a leech of enormous size making home in my kitchen."

"But I saw it...Here I will show you!"

He brought Mr.Keener, James, and Crystal inside of the kitchen with haste, and when they entered he pointed towards the ham.

"It engulfed, I mean sucked that ham dry!"

Crystal stared at Jacob with a blank look, than she laughed a loud.

"I am sorry to say this to you kid...But this is no kitchen..."

What Crystal's eyes saw was a type of lounge you would find in a coffee shop. One with green chairs, and couches. The walls made from rock, and a fire place at the far side of the room.

"No, it isn't a kitchen, it's a lounge."

Jacob gave Crystal a doubting look, glancing back and forth from her and the peice of ham.

Than a laugh came from James, who clutched his stomach tightly, tears running down his face as he waved his palm in the air.

"You both got it wrong. We are in a..."

Mr.Keener looked down at James with fear, and right away he cut him off short.

"Well it seems as though we are all weary from the day. Shall we get some sleep?"

James, still laughing manage to nod in agreeance.

"Right than, let me show to your rooms."

A smile touched his face as the exited the kitchen, and Mr.Keener looked over his shoulder, his eyes meeting those blood red ones of the leech.

"Stay in the shadows for a bit longer. You will feast soon my pet, very soon you will."

With that he closed the door behind him and walked up the stairs with the rest.
