Dreadfish Chronicles 4
Journal of a Doctor
Dr. Legna Zever plopped down in front of his in desk that was given with his new position. He reached into the lowest drawer and puller out the journal and opened it up to a fresh page as he began to write once more into it.
Journal Entry 30
Leon had just promoted me to her second in command of the Medical Corps. at first I was thrilled with the new position I was given; with it I had more access to better equipment and better conditions when operating or treating a patient. Yet within only a matter of hours I was shocked and freighted when I learned the truth. All those enemy soldiers I saved. . . all those helpless souls. . . I lead them to their deaths that I saved them from. I read the reports of some of the lower class campaigns that I had access to from my new rank. All prisoners executed, wounded or not they were...where is the honor in that. The battles were won, there was no need to kill them right there and then; we could of held them captive for questioning and hold them in camps.
What's worse were the battles that dealt with the war chief and her personal battle suit, I turned green with sickness at what it was capable of. The Sword, Fish, and Swordfish that were sent from the M.A.S.H. units were brought over to the hospitals were tested on for better weapons and poisons; I threw up right there and then into a waste basket.
I let Cap. Leon now that I will be working on cures for the new poisons and new methods of healing wounds, she aloud it fortunately. In secret I was glad, I never would have to deal with those foul people who dare call themselves doctors of medicine. I have never wavered from my belief in the Dreadfish till today, are we nothing but hypocrites...or is it that they do not see are oath of a dreadfish the way I do?
I haven't brought it up with Jenny on how I feel, for I wish not to loose her. Her blonde hair and her hypnotic green eyes, fill the void that those Damnable Swords put there when they killed my love Cathine, I greatly miss her. Funny...I betrayed the Fish cause I thought of them as weak for not letting me seek my revenge, and joined another traitor who sought power. I joined for the same reason, but at the same time not to; I wanted to be stronger to help save more lives. Revenge long gone as I realized that Cathine would not want that.
But now I'm rambling, time to get back to the point; I fear the High Commander is planning something. . .something that I fear will cost all sides a great number of souls. Why? Cause he named a newly conquered region "Out Heaven". If I was still on the field I wouldn't have a problem with that. . .but now. . .I fear for us all.
Legna shut the book and put it back into its new home and left to check on the new recruits of medics. Only to see the High Commander himself at the door way, the glare he was given made Dr. Zever's blood run cold, "Hello there Sergeant Legna." his cold voice bellowed out.
"H-high commander Ota, t-to what do I owe the honor to have you see me?" the medic stuttered out in fear, like his leader was able to read his thoughts. 'Oh god. . .has someone found my journal. . .no I just wrote it down there is no way he should know.'
"I thought I should personally tell you congratulation in your newest position, I hope you do not fail me, or betray the Dreadfish. . .for your own safety." he stated and then walked away. The doctor shut the door, leaned against, and slowly slid down until he hit the floor; his green eyes showing fear behind his glasses.
". . ." he recomposed himself as he stood back up and shook away the feeling his high commander gave him not to long ago, he wanted to make sure those who worked under him now would never see him like that. 'My faith is strong with the Dreadfish. . .but from a different point of view from all the others. And if they don't like it too bad cause. . .' " I AM a Dreadfish." he said as he reopened the door and headed out to find his captain. After all, she should also meet the newest doctors and nurses.
