Chapter 9: Playing Fate

When I woke up I was at my one-roomed piece of shit and had the most painful headache ever. I didn't know what to think so I sat up and looked around. Everything was hazy and...all my lights were on? What the hell?

I wanted to stand up but my legs wouldn't permit me, how did I get here? Magic? I wish. So who picked me up? Maybe it was Thayne...

My phone buzzed so I leaned over and picked it up, flipped it open and read the message. It was... Thayne?

Do you wanna get some dinner tonight? I know you've been busy but, can we?

Hmm, does that mean ... he didn't bring me here? Then who did? I don't think I could have possibly mustered up any strength to walk... no. I couldn't have because I felt like I was being carried.

CLANK

What the hell was that? I felt like my head wanted to explode as a succession of pans and things dropping came from my kitchen.

Alright, now this is scary.

I finally stood up and kind of wobbled towards my kitchen and I noticed a figure trying to hurry and pick up the mess they made. I tried to speak but it came out all grungy, "Hey. Who are you.....why are you in my kitchen?" I blinked several times trying to get rid of the film over my eyes.

"Because I saw what happened to you and I thought I'd bring you home. You are still family to me..." A chipper voice said.

Olette?

I finally got rid of that pesky film and nodded, "I see.... How did you know where to find me?" I sat down on a chair to relieve my knees from standing, I was still really weak.

She shrugged and replied, "I just knew you'd go to the bridge and I had a feeling dad would too. It's where he first met mom so...he always goes there...." She paused and looked at me like I was insane for not suspecting that.

I shrugged and looked at the mess, "so...what are you doing?" I put my head in my hands and stared at the floor, it hurt to look at the light.

"Re-organizing this place, it looks like crap..." she stated bluntly with a nod and continued to put things where they belonged. I'll never be able to find them now. Thanks.

"Kay then... Were there any calls while I was knocked out due to our kind father?" I would have been a bit more cynical but, I couldn't muster it.

"Naw, but Jacey's gonna stop by tonight, so you better take a shower." She stated matter-of-factly.

"You... invited him over after I was just strangled by my father? What made you think that one, I wanted to see him and two, that I would be okay?" I jumped up for this, I was apparently well enough to yell at my sister.

She smiled, "You seem energetic enough now.... Go take a shower... he'll be here soon." She put all the stuff back and picked up her purse, "I gotta go, have fun!"

And with that, she left me standing there in my PJ bottoms and a sweatshirt with a gawking face.
