Living the majority of their lives as microscopic filaments, fungi only begin to flower after a brief reproductive union. This relatively short stage in the life cycle of fungi allow the organism to release millions of spores, thus ensuring the continuity of their species. The results of these flowering stages are known throughout the world as mushrooms or toadstools; the latter of which commonly denotes toxicity.

"Grime cleanses this metallic refuge. Layers of time guard the discoveries that once lied within. The RevWeorkain Research Facility, though long-since abandoned for greater ambitions, remains a hominal island in the vast sea of liquidambars.

Two filthy flasks rest on the senescent sill. Contained within are cramped communities of orange agarics; mycena variations, if my knowledge proves solid. They're not poisonous, though I don't see why you'd be compelled to ingest one. I figured this would be a perfect monochrome shot, but as luck would have it, the negative was later dropped in the dirt. Perhaps a fitting fate. I open the flasks before my departure; it just seems right."

I've gotten mixed reactions to this one, but in all honesty, it's what I was going for, so I'm happy. The first rule in 3D art is that nothing in real life is perfect. Clean is boring, symmetrical is dull. By the by, a liquidambar is a sweet gum tree, common in cloud forests.

Modeled in Maya with postwork in Photoshop.

I don't care that the colors are drab, this is a very nice piece.

I don't think it's quite the first rule, but it's up near the top somewhere.

Excellent job, by the way. Very photographic.

KaynSlamdyke Says:

That is perfect. I would love to know how you did the entire thing.

Mushrooms!
Jubilations!
This is a wonderful, creepy, macabre piece with some excellent lighting and grit. I'm no great fan of the font... But it has mushrooms! Favourited for sure.

something makes me really love this.
:3 It's just, so expressive even if its just mushrooms.
It's awesome, yet it has just such a weird, almost disturbing look about it.
I love it.

tsuana Says:

it's beautiful in it's simplicity. I love this one!

I really like the feel of this. It really captures the dirty, grimy feel of a mushroom.
