When I was supposed to be doing my homework in my sophomore year of highschool, I was making stupid games for RPGMaker 2000.
You may have heard of one of those games. DUNK2? Anyway...
I always wanted to make a presentable Kirby RPG game in that stupid program. I was apparently very dumb at the age of 16. I made 2 short Kirby games before I attempted 'Dream Catcher', but they both stunk. I made 'Revenge of Marx' and then 'Order of the Meta-Knights', but I always used the pre-made tilesets and attacks, combined with my own crap walking sprites on top of ripped ones from Kirby Superstar as enemies. They looked like... well, RPGMaker games. Like shit. Big, heaping piles of useless shit and wasted time.
'Dream Catcher' was supposed to be a tale of how the Dark Matter lulled the good people of Dreamland to sleep and gave them unending nightmares, and it was up to Kirby, armed with the Dream Catcher, to free everyone and save Popstar. How freakin' cute, huh?
When I finally got some ability to create digital art and work RPGM2k's programming code, I started into my last concept for a Kirby RPG. I got a ton of sprites down, when I found out a new version of RPGMaker was released and my sprites wouldn't work with it. The smaller overworld sprites are the ones that I had to leave behind. As you can see, a majority of what's presented had to be redone. On top of redoing all of those, I was pressed with the task of making new, large animated battle sprites for Kirby's party and every enemy in the game. I started over, for whatever reason, while also attempting to program my unique ideas. I eventually got frustrated with my inability to get a working ability system for Kirby going, and scrapped the idea for good.
It wasn't very long before I realized the complete uselessness of fandom, as far as my artistic development went, and began focusing more on my own characters and stories. Hence came 'The Other Side' and 'Violence Fight'.
I am quite fond of my DynaBlade sprite, though. And the Poppy Bros., They were the reoccuring enemy, showing up as pirates and mobsters later in the game.
All of the characters shown here belong to NINTENDO, not me.

The title screen needs more lens flare.
Hehehhe, Sophomore year. What the hell was wrong with us that year?
