Ed: It's time you knew what a real alchemist is capable of ...WITH COLOUR!
I had to paint a human figure for my major Art piece, but I talked with my teacher so I could do a digital one instead, cause I suck at traditional painting. :/ I couldn't get any real inspiration either, so I decided to just do a nice pic of Ed.
The background was done in Fireworks, using a customised thin watercolour brush to make the cloth-like effect, then a calligraphy brush on a seperate layer for the symbol.
To do Ed, I scanned in page 51 (I think) of manga Vol. 1, and slowly went over it in Flash, with one layer for the lineart and another for the fills. I wasn't bothered doing much shading, cause my laziness kicked in after a while. Eventually loaded Ed into Fireworks and mucked around with layer transparencies and blending modes for a bit, and... wallah.
I don't know how many marks I got for it yet, but I know I passed the subject. And the draft print is hung up in the Mac lab.
