Sarcastic Love Ch. 5
Chapter 5: Drama, the real kind
When Thayne clapped his hands, I immediately snapped to life, %u201CRomeo! It%u2019s time to get acting like a good actor should!%u201D he said in an angry sing-song voice and gave me deaths glare, so I sat up and pretended to try and find my place.
Phooey, why am I loosing sleep? That was three weeks ago%u2026
%u201CAlright now, let%u2019s start the scene over. Tybalt, proceed!%u201D he said irritated as the fact that he had to start a scene over, he was always like that.
%u201CRomeo, the love I bear thee can afford No better term than this: thou art a villain.%u201D He said rather matter-of-factly.
Oh yes, it%u2019s my turn.
I paused and contemplated how I wanted to say the next lines. It has been a while since I%u2019ve read this play. I%u2019ve not been practicing with any one so I haven%u2019t bothered to read it over. I sigh and build up the right amount of disgust in my face, %u201CTybalt, the reason that I have to love thee Doth much excuse the appertaining rage To such a greeting. Villain am I none. Therefore, farewell. I see thou know'st me not.%u201D I turned away and the bell rang.
Thank god.
Thayne looked to me with disgust before he smiled and clapped his hands once more, man it was getting annoying, %u201CAlright, do continue to study and have a wonderful weekend!%u201D He waited until all the students were out, I had a feeling he might want to talk to me, so I stayed put.
He walked slowly to me, then past me and said coldly, %u201CFollow me Mr. Caleb%u2026%u201D he waited for me to get inside his office and closed the door. He sat at his desk and leaned back in his chair, like he was studying me. I couldn%u2019t believe how uncomfortable I felt%u2026and how cold it feels in that office right now.
%u201CI am quite disappointed in your performance lately. We%u2019re almost half way through and you keep day dreaming. What happened to the Caleb I once knew?%u201D he sat forward, he was disappointed in me. That look in his eyes blatantly told me he%u2019s disappointed before he even said a word.
I couldn%u2019t help but shrug and lean against a small book case he had, it was the furthest I could get from him. My eyes were glued to the floor, staring at my feet and at those shoes%u2026 I wouldn%u2019t wear them if I didn%u2019t have to%u2026but I do. My other ones are ruined, just like Jacey said.
%u201CWell?%u201D He said it harshly, it scared me so I jumped a bit and he just continued, %u201CIs it a boy? A girl? A Bully? Tell me, what is going on? So far you have been doing great in your studies and you%u2019ve been attending school%u2026%u201D He paused and tilted his head; %u201CYou only look at the floor when you think you%u2019re in trouble with me%u2026you aren%u2019t really in trouble I%u2019m just, concerned is all.%u201D he softened up a bit.
I pretended to attempt to lie and try to say something and paused, paused again%u2026and again. %u201CWell%u2026You see%u2026%u201D I sighed and stood up, scratching the back of my head, the more I thought of it, the more my lie was becoming the truth, %u201CI%u2026 it is a boy%u2026but also%u2026at home.%u201D I tried not to rush, and tried not to let the lump in my throat get the better of me, %u201CI don%u2019t have anything any more%u2026%u201D I concluded, it was nebulous enough%u2026maybe he%u2019d just drop-
%u201CThen come over to my house tonight.%u201D He interrupted me. I sat there and stared at him in disbelief. I haven%u2019t been there in such a long time%u2026 I haven%u2019t been anywhere in such a long time.
I leaned back against the bookcase and stared at my feet, hell I%u2019ll get a free meal and a warm bed%u2026and someone to talk to%u2026it could prove to be worth while, %u201C Y-you think that%u2019s alright?%u201D
He nodded and smiled, %u201CYes, it%u2019s more than alright, we can fix hot cocoa and watch your favorite movies. You deserve a break.%u201D He paused and sighed, %u201CBesides, that Jacey kid is trouble%u2026%u201D he smiled, I wondered for a split second if he meant it.
%u201CH-how did you know it was him?!%u201D I jumped forward, placing my hands on the table palm down. He just smiled and turned in his chair, staring out the window, it was so unfair when he could find out things. He was almost as psychic as Jacey%u2026Jacey. I took a step back and turned my back to him, %u201CI%u2019ll be at your house at six,%u201D I started to walk forward when I heard his voice call to me.
%u201CCaleb%u2026%u201D he stood up and sat on the desk and held his arms open, %u201Cyou need a hug, it%u2019s %u2026hard, what you are going through.%u201D I didn%u2019t hesitate at all. I just took a step forward and whirled around, running to him and throwing my arms around his chest. It was hard%u2026it was really hard.
I fought back tears for as long as I could, which was thankfully long enough. %u201CAlright, I%u2019ll see you at six, don%u2019t forget to bring a change of clothes%u2026as a matter of fact, bring all your clothes, I%u2019ll throw them in the wash for you. Kay? I just want to help you out.%u201D
I nodded and pulled away, sniffling and wiped my face off with my sleeve. I felt his fingers on my chin as he pulled my ashamed face up towards his smiling one. I had to look away; I didn%u2019t deserve any of this. It was too%u2026good for me; too good for a good-for-nothing guy. I sighed until he pulled my face to his, pressing his lips to mine. I gasped but he had slid his hand around to behind my head, cradling it as he pressed me forward into him. My mind%u2026was screaming at me, Stop. . .
He pulled away and hugged me tight. As soon as he did that, my mind screamed back at me%u2026 More! I can%u2019t make my mind up, what do I want?!
%u201CI need%u2026 a late pass.%u201D I said muffled into his chest. Yes, that%u2019s exactly what I want%u2026 a pass%u2026so I can move to my next class%u2026and not feel so, light headed? Where did that come from?
%u201COh yes!%u201D he bounced up and wrote some bullshit on a note, stuck it to my forehead and kissed my lips. I shook my head and left him with a smile. My last few classes seemed to take forever. When the bell finally rang I ran home as fast as I could.
I have a date%u2026kind of.

"Come over to my house tonight."
My thoughts after that line: "No, oh no, oh GOD NO, not that--yup, okay, it happened." How could you possibly have written that without blushing like mad and stopping at least three or four times to make the awkwardness not KILL you? That was an impressive scene. Really good. I mean that.
