Ode to the Dark Descendants

Ode to the Dark Descendants

A home in the realm of Chaos, an Emperium to defend and uphold
The battlecry for death and the siege for ultimate Glory had begun;
Though in numbers do their adversaries and its allies are tenthfold
So as tenthfold more the Dark Descendants Guild's fortitude stand.

At the frontline of the battle, Knights had sworn to Valor
Strength in their hearts full of Virtue, their words spoke of Truth;
Steadily guided by the Southern Spirits of Fire, the Salamanders
Ardently kindling the flame of awakening in their spears and swords.

Blessed by the Northern Spirits, the Earthly Gnomes, came
The children of Gaea, Wizards of Charm, had solemnly invoked
Spells with the power of elements: Earth, Fire, Water, and Air;
Bringing destruction and death all to those who dare oppose.

Another set of steady and patient fighters have been shown
The Blacksmiths, expert in their crafts in weapons and arms,
Just as favorably blessed by the Salamanders and the Gnomes
Stayed standing firm, stunning every foe with their mighty axes.

With adroit skills in Cloaking, and their Katars thirsting for victory
Agile Assassins came forth as swift as the winds in the West;
Attacking in great vigor and steady speed no eyes can see,
Held just as briskly by Western Air Spirits known as the Sylphs.

A chalice of support from Priests and Priestesses oh so pure
To the fallen allies and members proved to be a Sanctuary;
Bruised hearts and broken spirits, devotedly they give Cure
The Water Spirits, Undines of the East, answering their piety.

Come Hunters and Huntresses, their bows singing with ire
For every strike of the arrows against the enemies hold true;
By the blessings of the Undines and the Sylphs, Spirits of Air
They avowed to bring the advantage in the fray to burn anew.

Facing the enemies courageously, trusting in their strength
Never conceding defeat and the battle was fought well and grand;
For their hearts and souls on fire, the Spirit Guardians had kept
Had brought an excellent victory for all the warriors of the Clan.

For these warriors are the blessed children of the goddess of War,
Of Revenge, Night, Magic and Prophecy, the Goddess Morrigan!
Hark as Rune-Midgard sings its praise, All Hail the Dark Descendants!
May thy Glory shine brightly and thy Valor be heard from every land.

Description

It's an old poem I made for my pRagnarok Online guild.

I researched for the closest possible mythology that is perfect for the game; as well as asked around my fellow guild-mates about the guild's history, and guild siege tactics.

Some characters have references to real people - the players behind the characters, my friends.

This poem is for all of you!

An interesting piece that uses powerful words/phrases that really makes you imagine an epic battle stemming from all walks of life and all beliefs, though outnumbered their fortitude stands strong...
Also I particularly like the way you have incorporated a number of in game references but it seems realistic, some poems/stories become too much like the reference and any possible realism is lost, this piece however retains that and actually is rather balanced, good work!!
